Hello fellow TLers Im needed of help. Im making a speech for my grandmother's 80th birthday and Im running out of ideas on what to say. Everytime I write a sentence it doesn't make any sense and just hit a brick wall. So I ask fellow TLers to help me out, her birthday is next week and I have no clue at all what to say.
It doesnt' have to be long just a little short sentence would be fine.

The writing process isn't going to be smooth sailing for no matter what you do, so I wouldn't worry about what you write down as long as you keep writing until you find an actual idea.

Furthermore, you know your grandmother the best out of any of us. "Tekin's grandmother is so special that he asked an internet forum to write something about her." What do you expect us to write, honestly?

Try thinking of an anecdote - the fondest memory you have of your grandma - and describe it. I tend to use that approach because it captures the little moments that you share and appreciate and by the end of your description, you'll probably understand why exactly those moments are special to you. By then you can generalize it into something, and end it with a simple but heartfelt, "Happy birthday, grandma."

That's just one possible approach, but you might find it works for you. Start specific and go general, start general and skim over memories, present a collage of memories...yeah. You should try them all and see which one works best for you.

yep, hazelynut's advice is good. start off with a particularly funny or memorable anecdote and go from there. try to think of a story that can capture the listeners, of course. then expand on the story: what she means to you, the family, and so on. talk about your personal feelings towards her. this sounds like a pretty fun speech to write actually. hell a lot better than a stupid grad speech i had to write a couple weeks ago lol. good luck
