I've always written really really small (according to my friends; it looks perfectly natural to me). 0.7 is too big to suit that, so I prefer 0.5. That said, I'm somewhat indiscriminate in my writing utensils, and will use pens/pencils/mechanical pencils interchangeably. My favorites are a red papermate comfortmate (rubberized triangular barrel (the cheap kind)) or a good 0.5 mm mechanical. Though a "real" pencil has a certain charm.

My least favorite is "please use capital letters, blue or black ink only".

The last time I've used a pencil was a year ago, used 0.5 most back then.

but use 0.7
I don't buy stationery often and most of mine are 0.7 for some reason

0.7 seems way too thick when you write... but maybe it's different on a pencil (I tried writing with 0.7 pen, it seems way too bolded)

Why isn't 1.6 on the list?

I use that since ~15'ish years ago ^^ It's billion times better for my style of drawing. I mean, that's what we all do during most of the classes anyway, right?

edit: wooow wtf... as soon as I hit post I just remembered what my dream today was. Today I actually dreamed that I was using a pencil, the tip was broken and I was trying to do (whatever the name in english is of that thingy that fixes the tip by screwing it), but the tip would always break over and over again. Such a nightmare ><

You mean sharpening the pencil, I assume?

(Although I'm trying really hard here not to think of other meanings for "fixing the tip by screwing it".)
