So I get this call from my mum right and she was all, "hey you should come home for my birthday in 2 weeks. Bring presents and wine."
Anyway that caught me completely by surprise. I've never actually been able to remember the exact date of her birthday, for some reason I thought it was in August. Either way my sister usually just tells me a few days before.
The wine bit I can achieve. I'll just stop by a random vineyard on the way home. This present thing has me stumped though. The thing is there's only so many times you can give someone chocolates or flowers before it gets old.
I'm currently thinking some kind of gift voucher for a massage. Any thoughts?

bring a bottle of wine... and another as a present

load her up on wine before you give her the present

recently ive just been drawing pictures as presents for my family for any occasion. buying stuff gets old, and putting time into making something that they like is a lot better.

yeah just get like a 50 cent bauble out of those candy dispenser-esque machines or something

Exotic plants if she likes taking care of stuff. Perfume maybe, if she's the type? Or some random decorative ornament.

That'd be nice - My Mum is a trained holistic masseuse and she has a lot of Mums as her patients. I also think you should get some nice packaging for the wine if it doesn't already come with it. Oh and it can be kind of cool to buy a present and hide the vouchers inside of it - like something with a pocket or drawer.

All good ideas so far. The exotic plant is an interesting idea. She does seem to be a bit housebound lately so something that'll, ahh, keep her company would be good. It's a shame she doesn't really like animals.

Lol, I have the same thing. I can never ever remember the exact date of my mom's birthday. Luckily it was ...sometime in april so I'm safe for another year.
wait come to think of it I dont know the birthday of my dad or sisters either. Well except for one sister who has a birthday on 31st of july which is ez to remember.
...or was it 1st of august? crap

How hard is it to remember your mom's birthday T_T
I guess having a girlfriend definitely helps with remembering important dates.

It's weird I don't have a problem remembering random peoples birthdays. It's just my mum and dads I can't remember. lol a couple of years ago everyone forgot my dads birthday. None of his three kids, his wife, his parents, friends, brother, etc... We all only realised about a month later.

You could get her a cd or dvd if she likes any particular artist or enjoys movies?
|
My mum has really dodgey hearing so a cd probably wouldn't be a good idea. I might see if there's any decent dvds come out recently though
