I've been a huge Disturbed fan for years. Been to many concerts and overall just love the band. I was wondering what you guys thought about the emblem listed above.
Just a little background information, Davaid Draiman is Jewish and was raised in a Jewish Academy. His grandfather was a Holocaust survivor. Needless to say, he was brought up in a religious household. But, he himself doesn't claim to be religious. Yet, if you listen to their music, he makes MANY references to religion.
So that really makes me wonder, what does this emblem actually mean? It emerged on the cover of their album Believe in 2002. If you open up the cover and check out the little booklet it splits this symbol up into separate parts: The cross, star of david, crescent moon, and pagan pentacle. Now, I know vaguely what all these symbols mean, but not all combined into one with such a evil demeanor(the horns). I have read up on it a bit and many people seem to think that it has to do with the unity of religions.
Anyways, figured it'd be nice to get the view from the perspective of many of you. Thanks.

The horns? The horns you speak of is the Crescent that is often associated with Islam. If that's what you were thinking of.
Not sure how to interpret it. It could be a symbol of unity. That their music should be able to be appreciated by people of any and all faiths. That nomatter which of the symbols they display here, nomatter what one you try and place on it, the message, the sound, the music and the inspiration is universal.
It could mean anything really. An interesting and thought provoking emblem no doubt.

I know the horns are the Crescent, I mentioned the Crescent in the list of symbols in it. I was too vague with what I meant.. I was trying to say the way they're put together makes it look like horns, not the Crescent Moon when it is put together as one. With that, I was saying it had kind of a evil demeanor about it, which is not the case when it is broken down. Sorry about being so vague, it's 2am :p Thanks for your input!

obviously the band disturbed is trying to invoke a religious holy war by throwing all of them into the same region and watching the mess that follows

Pentagram can also be a Christian (not sure about Judeo) symbol for God as well.
Their music isn't very anti-religious in any meaningful sense.
Actually the song "Prayer" or whatever on the Believe album was quite an uplifting one.
I like what's already been said: that the symbol represents a kind of unity, calling for coexistence between varying religions/creeds/faiths.
I need to put Disturbed back on my computer...I miss them. They're a decent band considering the amount of exposure they have.

I interpret this symbol as a unification of the major religions on the planet and hopefully it's a unification in a good way, peaceful way. I don't think the Crescent should be looked upon as horns.

as far as i know the members of disturbed are all members of different religions. i guess the logo is some kind of compilation of religious symbols of the religions they are part of (moon, cross, star of david...)
