So... I'm stuck in hilly and sunny San Francisco for about 4.5 months until September. Anyone from SFC-bay area?

Any good restaurants, bar/clubs?

Thanks!

Sorry, this blog sucks, but I really have nothing more to add. I've been here for exactly two days.

I live in Nob Hill, on Pine cross Larkin.

Next to NYC, SF has the best food (in a metropolitan sense) in the nation. Use yelp--it's pretty huge around the area.

Dude, that's so far. Maybe on a weekend, I'll rent a car and visit one of your SC labs? Is that still ongoing?

Take the BART man. There is good enough public transit in the area that you can get around just with a bike and public transit. Also Zip cars are common enough around here that it's pretty cheap.

What's in San Jose?

Nothing. San Jose is a decent downtown + slums + suburban sprawl right outside it. It's a business tech area, not a fun area.

Well obviously you don't bike the parts thats super steep. You use a combination of public transit and biking. Plus, I was more referring to the greater bay area rather than biking specifically in SF. Oh and if you can park in SF, you've basically mastered the art of reverse parallel parking.

I'll be in the bay area this summer. I have a few spots that I like in SF:

popscene (indie music club on Thursday nights, might be a bit young, like the crowd is 18-24 don't know if that is you. Edit nevermind, I checked your profile and I see you are 21 like me, so there you go)
A-16 (restaurant, amazing date place, pricey)
Delfina (restaurant, worth a try for sure, pricey)
Museum of Modern Art is always fun, if you show up an hour before close they usually won't charge you for entrance (if you're a cheapass/student like me)
Yoshi's is a pretty cool sushi place / jazz club right by The Fillmore, which you should absolutely see a show at sometime (SF has a great music scene in general).

Nob Hill eh?? Nice man! Haight-Ashbury is probably my favorite area in SF, it's pretty hip and there are lots of little shops / good restaurants all over the place. Check it out sometime.

Yeah, and San Jose: absolutely nothing there. If you're in SF you are in the best place in the bay area for sure.

I should add if you want to meet up any time this summer in the city for dinner or whatever, just say the word! I'm not an expert on SF but I know my way around the city pretty well.

lol, my first thought was Nob Hill, the store. I was like, you live in a store?

I live in the Bay Area, but I'm too young to hang out with you (unless we were playing starcraft :D) or know any cool places for people over 21. GL on your quest through SF!

Try to find the Bushman. He hides behind 2 bushes and jumps out to scare people. Then he asks you for some money.

If you like museums then go to the de Young museum in the Golden Gate park. Eat at the cliffhouse, the food is expensive, but it's good, plus you get excellent views.

21st Amendment? They have good beer yeah. Speaking of which, if you are a beer or wine fan, bay area easily has the best beer and wine in the nation. Definitely hit up breweries and wineries if thats your cup o tea.

1) Make a trip to Yosemite NP - amazing!

2) If you like wine - take a trip north, visit some vinyards and wine tastings

3) Like parties, funny stuff to smoke and funky people? - Santa Cruz here we go

All within half a days drive of SF, so suitable for extended weekends.
