Hey everyone,

Since Fake_Steve decided that I'm not good enough to win his earbuds

I have instead decided to get my Razer perihperals in an even more arbitrary way: Mechanical Turking

The Prize:

The Cost:80$ (I'm covering the shipping and handling

The means: 2 cents a pop image tagging. Right now I can do about 1 every ten seconds which means 80.00/.02=50*80=4000 image tags will take 6 a minute makes 360 an hour (7.20 an hour) takes something like 12 hours of work.

plus the added micro training. plus the story that I labled pics for hours on end for chump change and a keyboard.

I made about $25 turking at one time, but the monotony got to me, and I haven't done it since.

I didn't have the patience to do it all at once. I normally have a decent tolerance for boring/repetitive tasks, but for some reason it wasn't so with most of the turks. I did it all over the course of a few days, spending 10 minutes here, 20 minutes there. Most were the .02-.05 turks, but I found one that paid like $2 and then bonuses for writing 10 restaurant reviews on a website. I spent a good hour or so on that. The bonuses were for things like providing a picture, reviewing a place they didn't have in their database, or just writing a really good review. I think I ended up making about $5 for that turk.

Overall, I think I think I spent about a week doing it, without maximizing efficiency at all. I was browsing the WoW forums/TL while doing it, if I recall.
