SNL Guy=Chorus effect or layering/multiple takes Layering is a VERY common audio production technique. Most of the time when you hear a monster kick drum or a killer snare drum, you are actually hearing 3 or 4 kick/snare sounds layered together to get massive sounds. it's kind of tricky, you just need a good ear. For the main vocal it would not suprise me if there were 7 seperate vocal tracks. 1 main mono panned center, and 6 more hard panned L and R and pitch shifted up and down in tune and mixed a little quiter than the main. Make sense? | ||

there are a ton of ways of getting this effect done: - song overlapping - echo modification - sound wave alteration - who knows what else tho i dont know which is the prefered method nowadays... | ||

If your desired effect is sounding like you're singing into a can or possibly at some aluminum foil, then auto-tuning is your answer. The effect is used to absolutely awful proportions in the series Auto-tune The News. You could always check those out. | ||
