StarCraft 2 was announced May 19, 2007. Jesus, that was a long time ago.
There have been countless threads debating every single possible detail of the game since the day it was announced and a great number of pretty forceful posts saying that SC2 will fail. Those posts have calmed down a lot since the height of MBS (et al) flame days and the SC2 forum has been cleaned up for a while now.
Still, I wonder, what are your SC2 plans? I'm putting up a poll and I'd like some details. I'm not really looking to start an MBS debate or whatever rehashed argument you can think of - just your own personal justification for your choice.
Also, I realize that the beta will change perceptions because we'll have a much more concrete idea of the game BUT I still want to know what you're thinking right now and why. It'd be cool to get an idea of what TL is planning.
And if the poll has shitty answers that don't apply to you, post what you're thinking.
Poll: What are your SC2 plans? (Vote): I will pre-order SC2 (Vote): I will purchase SC2 on day 1 and will play seriously (Vote): I will buy it on or near release but probably won't play it very much past the very casual level (Vote): I am strictly looking at how the beta goes before I decide (Vote): I am going to keep an eye on it once it is released and decide from there (Vote): I won't be buying SC2 (Vote): I am totally unsure
As far as I can tell, I'm pre-ordering.

I played quite a few games of SC2 on Dreamhack winter 08 and I really liked the game so I decided I will play it very seriously when it comes out.
It will be so funny since everyone starting of from scratch and there will be so much going on, soo many on b.net and everything omg can't wait can't wait!!
Seriously SC2 it's such a good game, SC2 and BW have very much in common, the only thing is modern graphics (which is very good when you see it IRL) and ofc new units and stuff (which is fun too).
It's sad that BW will have to go but everyone will play SC2 and it's an awesome game so.. why not

Definitely pre-order. It is gonna be sold out everywhere probably and going for 100$ on ebay.
Edit: Also I wanna have a build named after me even if it is like the SC2 stove keke, gogo Fontong rush!
|
I'm one of not buying votes at the moment. Gonna continue to watch and not play SC I, til it dies.

Battle.net is going to have so much functionality, that it will be impossible for me to deny. I like automated matchmaking, and tournaments, and whatever else new they bring, and I like them a lot. Even WC3's battle.net features entertained me greatly.
As for SC1, I'm now more of a spectator than a player, but I'll go back to playing with SC2. I will DEARLY miss korean SC1 competition though, assuming it dies. I don't know if SC2 can be as entertaining to me, as a spectator, as SC1 is right now.

well.. depending on if i get my new computer, or if the beta somehow runs on my PC...
then it depends
|
I want to see what Kespa does, and see what people who played the beta think. Even though I'm leaning toward playing SC2, I don't know enough to decide.
|
I will preorder SC2, but i'll proabably stick with BW till the end ( which probably wont be long after SC2)
|
you know, it didnt even feel like sc2 being announced almost 2 years ago. the feeling is strange. im waiting on how beta will be first..

I am really, REALLY hoping that this is true. The new b.net makes it very easy to implement and they should do it.

I will buy the game and play it, interested like any other game. If I take a liking to it I will go into nerd mode staying up all night mass gaming.
|
I'm gonna look at the general perception of the game for at least a few weeks after it comes out, I'm in no hurry to play it but if it's good I'll get it eventually.
|
Definitely bying it on day 1.
My goal is to beat all of my friends at it, and hopefully be among the better players on the Danish SC2 scene. Only time will tell how seriously I'll be able to play.
|
download it to see how it is and after 8+ straight hours of playing get addicted and go buy it
|
im gonna preorder when an actual release date is issued and play as much as possible O-O;;;
|
I will buy it on the day it releases and luckily, I work at Fry's Electronics so I can hide a copy for myself =P. What I'm really looking forward to is the continuation of the story because the lore of StarCraft is really interesting and cool.
Once I start playing the game, I'll play each race thoroughly before choosing a main race. I'm currently a Protoss player so hopefully I'll be on in SC2. Man... it's been 2 years already?

The people talking about a digital version I think hit the nail on the head. It would be foolish not to and they would make WAY more money this way. Yes, it would be nice to have the instruction manual and that junk, but realistically, for the hardcore competitive type, as long as we have the game we're happy. The digital copy idea is cool. It would be like steam where you can login anywhere, download the game and play. I love that style. But I will probably preorder at a local store anyway because I'd be too impatient waiting for it to DL.
I definitely plan to play competitively from day 1. I've been waiting for the release since it was announced. Sc2 announcement was the reason I picked up and played this game. Well, SC2 announcement intrigued me, then I saw progamers on youtube and that's what inspired me. All-in-all, as much as I love BW, which is infinitely, a part of me feels like it's all just a precursor to SC2. It's all preparation. I wanted to get as good as possible at BW so that I would have an even better chance of playing SC2 at a top competitive level.
Not to diminish from BroodWar, because I do think it's the greatest game of all time, and if SC2 was killed and BW stayed on top, I would love persuing that aswell. I just think SC2 is the future of esports, and I am indescribably excited to play this game competitively.
Sc2 is in my future. =D
|
I will quit both of my MMO games (WoW and EvE) and stop playing L4D and CS all together for SC2...
This leaves some room for D3 if i care enough to get it
|
I'm gonna buy the game the day of the release, wait 3days for the noobies to finish the campaign then enjoy a few precious days of winning before going back to my normal lackadaisical on and off sc/sc2.

I am trying to be interested in it, though I don't think it looks very good. Maybe that's just because of the advertising, especially those shitty commentaries on some of the games so far made by blizzard guys. One thing that I really don't like are the new units, none of them have appealed to me. I also dislike how many units shoot straight beams of whatever, which doesn't seem very creative to me.
Trying to get excited about sc2 but so far I have no reason to. I will see what happens when it comes out.

1. Preorder game 2. Play through campaign 3. Enjoy multiplayer: ladder, ums, mapmaking
Repeat with the two add-ons
|
i played it on Games Convention 2008 and it was much fun, so i will probably play it seriously.
i hope it will keep being funny, then i will maybe play it more than 5 hours every day and try to become pro gamer. but it should also be succesful in western and korean esport.

How are people voting that they will definitely not buy the game at this point? We have no sense of how good or how bad it will be. Surely the possibility, however slim, that it could be Blizzard's best title yet would be enough to put someone in the "wait and see" category?
