so last night i was standing in line to get a cup of coffee, and the girl infront of me stands kind of on the side and i sort of scratch my face with my right hand. I have exceptionally long nails for a man, for playing great acoustic guitar. I could kill a bear with them

So anyway she sees them and gives me this FREAKED OUT look and walks out of the line before ordering.

man I hate having these nails, new people you meet dont know what to think and if you see them glance at your Girl Nails you sort of have to interrupt and explain. Working in a clothing store makes costumers also make assumption when they cast a glimpse of them.

but at least i got a cup of coffee faster

You can always cut them and use those special guitar picks that are like rings

tried em, bad tone and hinder complex and fast picking techniques.

and no i wont cut my nails, they make guitars sound like heavens vagina!!!!!!!!!!!!

i got this little kit of nail cleaning and small sand papaer to get them perfect, each week i work on them for a total of probably 1-2 hrs

they r clean n beautiful(maybe 2 beatiful so people get suspicious)

Yeah I sometimes have this problem as well, but my nails break fast so they never get too long~~

use pink acrylics they worked for me

who cares about what some women on the street thinks about your nails, if i play anything other than a nylon string my nails shatter so i have to use fake acrylics. or else use no nails at all and that is absolutely horrible trying to pick without nails plus i get that muted, meaty sound flesh makes :CCCCC

i keep acrylics long on my right hand and cut my left hand nails real short. btw do you use your thumb or a thumb pick?

I know what you mean man, I play flamenco guitar and growing out/hardening nails sucks ass. I also play violin so having long nails isn't really an option, so I split the difference and I use silk based falsies when I play guitar. Using them is such a hassle though.

Man, I thought I was the only one with this "problem".

I always have to explain my abnormally long and polished right hand finger nails to people. As a classical guitar player, you eventually learn to pick up when you're getting "the stare".

At the beginning I'd always wonder what the fuck people were staring at. It'd always take me a while to figure out, or rather remember, that I had long finger nails on one hand.

Now, usually I just lift my left hand, show them the non existant nails, exclaim the word "guitar", and let them figure out the rest.

Hey guys. I've got pretty weak natural nails, they sort of bend and curve under their own weight after a while.

I was wondering what kind of products you use to strengthen your nails?

(not a fan of acrylic nails).

good diet lots of milk and stuff that makes ut nails healthy

nails usually get stronger by that and when u play alot u strenghten them

they become weapons

Stick with the nails, screw what anyone thinks who doesn't like them.
I've a friend who does flamenco so I know what these nails are like... they are beautifully looked after and not unattractive or offensive, and tbh I'd say women are more likely to be impressed by nails they're probably gonna be jealous of... women that actually know you, that is.

yeah man i mean i like em, hate was the wrong word to describe them. I mean you do get attention and can sort of start talking about guitars and music easily, a real conversation starter that's for sure.

And if another guitarist sees them theyll go "GUITAR?"
