Ok so check it out, I am a freshman in college. I am taking a few classes right now one of which is Business 100 because I want to major in Business Sales and Marketing...
I am in this class, right now at this very second writing this blog.
I need to vent on how terrible my teacher is for a second...
Ok so the entire 1 and 1/2 hour class, is one.....big....lecture.... Which wouldn't entirely be a problem. EXCEPT He lectures on the book were reading.
FOR EXAMPLE: We will have an entire class using his projector with a main heading and he will push the next button on his cute little remote and another bullet will come up.. Here is whats on the board right now...
TOP SEVEN REASONS FOR BUYING ONLINE -Save time by not going to store. -Can shop when stores are closed -Avoid crowds -Might be able to find better proces -Can find products online more easily -Find products not available in stores -Easier to compare prices
Now ok yes all these things are a given that I'm sure all of us knew... but heres my petpeeve..
When you open up the fuckin course book, there is a section on this... He literally takes every single one of his course lectures straight out of the book I'm going to go home and read anyway...
WTFBBQSAUCE!
Teach me something... you fuckin old fuck learn how to teach...I read the book for information, I dont need to hear it at 8:10am verbally 2 times a week because you suck at teaching...
If I wanted to hear the same information over and over again I would go buy the book on audio tape...
Anyone else think this is fuckin lame? It makes me so angry that he doesn't actually teach me anything.. yea I said it ANYTHING, Hes not teaching me anything he didn't take straight from my course book... What do you guys think?
Am I over reacting? Is he a lame teacher? Am I justified in thinking that this guy is a total slacker for not coming up with anything to teach? DISCUSS...

You are going to find in your college career that there are so many good and bad teachers. I've stated this many times in posts about classes/teachers. Always go to ratemyprofessor and look up your teachers before taking classes, seriously it usually ends up being a life saver. Often times picking classes based on teachers can actually help sway you into a major if you already haven't picked one. Since you are new to the University thing this is also so important because 101 classes will have many more different professors teaching classes than 400 levels. Believe it or not there are teachers that will actually make you want to take more classes in their fields just because of how awesome and knowledgeable they are.

meh you're assuming everyone reads the book for information. in a course like business 100 (my equivalent this term is micro economics 201) there's nothing to understand, you either know it or you don't. i don't have time to read a retarded econ textbook (hell, i didn't even buy it), when all the info is given in the lecture slides which can be learned in a fraction of the time with the same results.
what do you expect him to teach anyway? the course revolves around the book. if you care so much, ask your friends which profs are good, and switch into their class instead. i doubt you'll find it much different except a tad more interactive

Maybe you should've worked a little harder in high school so you didn't have to attend a piece of crap college. All my professors are really good.

What does piece of crap college mean? Honestly Nobel prize winners for the most part also blows at lecturing, tis pretty hard to find a middle ground between accomplishment in the field and actual ability in teaching.

Its not a piece of crap college... Granted yes its a community college. Partly the reason I am here and not a all the UC colleges I applied AND WAS ACCEPTED to is because my grandmother was sick with cancer and I opted to get a job for a while and go to college a little later and help pay her medical bills which my family is still in debt for.
The college is nice, I am going to get my AA here and transfer in 2 years to a UC college. To go for either bachelors or masters I'm still undecided. I was a A or B student, I did my job in highschool.

Can't you just not go? always the way i attend school, ask around or take all classes once or twice and decide for yourself which one are worthy of attending. (As you progress in your career you will learn that most of them aren't and can be succesfully completed by studying for yourself at your own rate)
I dont know about the system in the us and wether or not all classes are mandatory, but here they generally are not.

Yes its required, there are lots of other business courses to take but they require this class to be taken first. Basically before I'm allowed to learn anything I guess they want some money. lol
Basically you cant make a cyber core unless you have a gateway... Same thing with my business classes lmao.

Generally I've found that you either need to read the book, or attend lecture for most classes. For classes with a discussion component as well, you need to pick 2 of the 3 parts (lecture, book, discussion). This is especially true for intro classes.
This probably isn't true for hard sciences but I don't know because I don't study biology.

I had a professor that scanned most of the book, put the pages into a powerpoint presentation, and read them verbatim for lectures. It was a 9am computer science class about logic and proofs, and I probably attended 3 times. Many of my other CS professors weren't much better, and that was at a top 10 program (Georgia Tech). Big name professors don't care one bit about the undergrad classes they're forced to teach.

some professors are really bad but then again considering you're taking a 100 level course so your prof is probably as bored as you are.

that's why it's so easy to pass business classes without attending them.
