Ok, I originally had a long entry but i'll make it short.
I mailed in my application past the deadline of December 1 to the University of Kansas so there's nothing I can do, despite being more than eligible for several thousands in scholarships I'll get nothing. God... My only chance is a possible departmental scholarship in Engineering but those are way more competitive anyway, at least I think so.
Geeze, I just can't beleive I did that to my parents. I mean they aren't rich but they are frugal so they are going to pay for my college, at least the tuition part, and I just threw all that money down the drain due to stupidity.

Why did you do this and why did your frugal parents let you do this?
|
What money did you waste? The application fee?

There are deadlines, but it's not like you're completely unelligible now. Calm down and try to assess the situation down to whatever options you have. Research and find out every wedge and detail you can muster to get the scholarship you need; don't give up just because a few people tell you it's already impossible. It's not as if everything's absolutely set in stone and cannot be undone.

Not the application fee, just the fact that it's highly probable I'll be going there next year and I missed out on a lot of money that I could've received.

Because I didn't realize the important of applying early. I figured before the deadline would be good. And because my parents are pretty lax because I'm generally responsible, except for things that are actually important apparently.

Lessons get learned sooner or later. Ideally you don't lose out on tens of thousands of dollars though.
This is a lesson for your parents as well. I wouldn't consider this 100% your fault.

doesn't frugal imply that they won't pay for your stuff?

Well they aren't cheap, they just don't spend a lot of money unnecessarily. They don't eat out a lot, we don't have cable tv, and other stuff like that. But when it comes to stuff I want they're pretty generous.

I did the exact same thing with UCF. The deadline for scholarships was jan 30th and I found out on jan 31st around 12:30 am. I just turned off my computer and went to bed.
