1) Pay for what you use. Not sure how this works out for hosting heavy-bandwidth stuff like movies (you might want to check out Amazon S3 for that, and just link them from your nearlyfreespeech-hosted website) but for text/images you will pay a very reasonable rate. This pricing system is especially useful if you anticipate low traffic for a few months - I pay basically nothing (fractions of a cent) to keep my website up and running for the occasional employer or curious party who wants to find me online. 2) Great admin interface. None of this Flash-based bullshit, just text. Easy to navigate, easy to tell what you're doing. 3) Excellent customer support. I emailed them and got a very friendly response within a day. At bigger web hosts, this simply does not happen. 4) Good ethos. As their name indicates, nearlyfreespeech is really committed to protecting your privacy and will not take down your website without a really good reason - the same can't be said for some of the larger web hosts. Yeah, nearlyfreespeech is the shit. Just IMO. Edit: the post above makes me realize you might be looking for a totally free option...wordpress.org is a good deal if you don't want to pay anything/don't want to mess with installing a blogging platform. On the other hand, pay-as-you go hosting is virtually costless and you'll get a TON more options in the way of personalizing your website. | ||
