Ok, I figured blog is probably the best place for this.
I recently played a game on Iccup which I won. During the middle of the game however there was some severe lag to the point where we were cut off from the Iccup server. This lag was from my brother accessing mywii.com (stupid site that seems to devour every last inch of bandwidth). I was presented with the message 'your connection to battlenet has been lost'. Ok fine.

Sure enough, the game's not recorded on my matchlist so I start a thread requesting the win to be added. My claim is denied with the response

Hi!

Our admin stuff recieved a complaint ***** from ***** about this game.

Admin ***** reviewed this complaint and denied it with this reason:

Admin's comment:
I'm sorry. Unfortunately we are not able to solve complaints that server crashed.

If your don't agree with this deccision you can complaint in this forum

-------------------------------------------------------

Ok that's lovely... but server crash wasn't the problem. The game was added to my matchlist prior to this so it had at least been recorded. confused i posted this:

I'm somewhat confused by the double standards of admins on this site.
I posted a complaint originally in a forum and was told instead to use the 'make' button in my matchlist.
I did so and was denied for an irrelevant reason. If the match has been recorded on my matchlist, and I've provided a replay of the game, how am I not entitled to my points? Why would I be denied the points simply because it was a connection issue when I have proof of my claim? This wasn't even as you said a 'complaint that server crashed'. I simply don't understand your logic here....

-------------------------------------------------------

My response?
Yes. ***** has right, we can't solve complains from game when was a server crash. I know, we should answered you when you made complain on forum that you shouldn't make complain in matchlist because admins will deny it.
Try to understand us, it is the rule. We can't add points when server crashed.
---------------------------------------------------------

Way to not speak english... or read... or address my concerns...

I don't want to all out bash the iccup admins... they're doing a time consuming job and aren't being paid for it AFAIK. But wouldn't it be a nice idea to have a few who are fluent in english? Secondly... why is it so hard to award points when the match is recorded and a replay is provided? I don't feel that 'sorry we can't' is a real excuse unless they provide the 'sorry we can't because...'

Wait could you rephrase that, you said the game wasn't recorded on your match list then you say the game was added to your matchlist prior to 'something'?

And maybe the server happened to crash around the time of your game?
No I'm never serious.

Jeez people need to come down, they made this rule so they would have a thousand people complaining about losing 50 points every time the server went down. Even though you did disconnect, they don't have ENOUGH admins to solve every problem so they needed to make a cut off range, which just happens to be disconnects.

Not sure what you meant by "they needed to make a cut off range, which just happens to be disconnects." but I think you're missing the point. The server didn't crash, it was a disconnect. AFAIK disconnect games are still entitled to points so long as the replays are provided. In his first complaint, they said it was a server crash - it wasn't. In the second complaint, he tried to explain that they misunderstood him somehow - they responded and STILL thought it was a server crash (completely misunderstanding again).

It has nothing to do with "don't have ENOUGH admins to solve every problem". His problem was addressed TWICE but simply the admins did not understand.

English is the language of the globe. Sure we cant expect perfect English, but we do/must accept intelligible English.

They are saying it is a server crash because of the way it is reported in the admin panel. Server Crash games are shown in the admin panel as being all on the right side (As opposed to one on the right and one on the left) with antihack either NO or UNKNOWN.

They would deny yours because it looked like that. Whether it is a server crash or not there isn't a way to tell between the two so it has to be denied.

It's similar to a few seasons back when everyone was using ADV Loader.

ICCup's antihack considered ADV Loader to be a hacking program. It couldn't tell the difference between Oblivion and ADV Loader so people were punished for using it. There wasn't really a way to tell the difference between Oblivion and ADV Loader so there were a lot of innocent people getting banned for it >.>

Where is Raelcun... And honestly, it is just one game. Just ignore it, and move on. iCCup Admins are working hard, especially since they don't even get paid for what they do (I believe?). And the English issue... They aren't an American based company(ish?) You can't expect everyone to speak crystal clear English, even if it is the global language. It isn't choppy to the point of it being completely incoherent.

Didn't the OP have a replay? Who won is pretty obvious through that.

uh you can just "complain" about the game as if it was against a hacker or something. All you need is the two names, ranks, motw yes no...and if the game isnt there and it was clear you won, you will get the game. Honestly its not hard

Maybe it would be a good idea to not start your post with "I'm somewhat confused by the double standards of admins on this site". That wouldn't make me want to help you if I was an Iccup admin -.-

Same think happened to me. I think it's just that when something like a full server crash occurs there are going to be way too many complaints to deal with them. Yea it sucks but it's just one game.

Lol ok, I wasn't intending to start a flame up. My apologies.
I'm not intentionally starting a fight with any of the iccup admins, and as I said in OP; I appreciate that they put a lot of time in when they're not being paid and still cop a hell of a lot of crap from the public.

I also understand that it was only one game and that the world will in fact continue to spin regardless of the points or not - i'm not tied up on that. I was just concerned about the fact that they skirted around what I'd posted moreso than anything else. I don't quite understand why they wouldn't be able to award points simply because of a 'server crash' in the first place - let alone a disconnect that they thought was a server crash.

Yeah if the server goes down they'll get 1000 people asking for points and that's too much to handle.
But if it's a disconnect wouldn't they notice there's only the regular number of claims and go through them?

Iccup admins need to stop being pussies. When I was an admin/superadmin we solved those kind of complaints no problem. They aren't that hard.

Yes they were the days of hundreds of complaints per day! Not all that fun to be honest, but I wouldn't say the policy is terrible now. It's just I think there should be an english language proficiency requirement

Seriously why don't you become an admin yourself? Nobody is perfect. They are working in their spare time for free to help the majority of people. They make mistakes sometimes but who cares the ladder would be shit without them. So what if they don't know english? Not everybody knows english. Why don't you learn their language so you can complain to them some more. I understand your upset but its annoying when people call out these poor admins just because they mess up one time. They do a lot more good than bad...and im sure if you pay them they might care just a little bit more about your 1 little problem.

There's a rule that you can find on the website that says that during server crash no disconnect will be investigated. It's tough, but that's the rule. Buyers beware.

In general, you can't make an argument saying "this one is legit -- I really got drophacked" because then all of the 1000 players who played during the server crash will say that.
