100% sure this is getting logged in the Event manager.

Figure out where the Event Manager is in vista, go to the System tab, and look for events preceeded by a yellow exclamation point/triangle, or a red circle with a red x.

Copy/paste those here, or google for them. Also give us the exact model of your wireless card from the Device Manager and your model of Sony Vaio.

This could be literally anything.

event manager = event viewer? if it is, where does it show the error log for the net downs? theres a lot of stuff from security and such but i cant find where it has the internet stuff.

the wifi is: intel(r) wireless wifi link 5100

need anything else etc, just let me know. i want to resolve this issue.

Yeah, really just look through every category and find any recent errors or warnings @ intervals corresponding to when you lose your net. Those will help pinpoint what exactly is happening.

What are you using for encryption on the router? WEP?

I read that if your network isn't set to "public" in OneCare, it could be causing this issue.

Please perform the steps below and report back whether the issue is still occurring:

1. In the OneCare main screen, click "Change settings"
2. Under the Firewall tab click "Configure firewall"
3. Click "Change location" to change from "home or work" to "public place"

Now track your router during the next 24 hours and report back whether you are still experiencing router disconnects.
