Heloo there. Well, let me start by saying I've been in a relationship for 5 months and I've been smoking weed for 6 months. I have an addictive personality. Well, I don't really know if I do, I just feel like that term best fits "I don't know what to do once [insert addiction] is gone!" I also have a part time job(in other words... I'm not your typical stoner bum).
My girlfriend has brought it up many times that she doesn't like smoking weed. Me, being a man, tell her "fuck you" most of the time because I really didn't feel like quitting. Thing is... the reason I feel so shitty about quitting is because it has already become a habitual thing, going out to smoke, coming back to smoke, smoking in the night, smoking in the day.
That's one problem, another is sex. It's already become habit to bring my girlfriend home after college/during the week and, right when we get there, we start getting intimate, foreplay for hours and then eventually do it. Thing is, I use to last a shitload. Now, I don't, but, I can go again right after, that kind of makes up for it. But... once we're done having sex, it's like we've forgotten what to do(her also.. but, apparently, it's the guys job to be creative and think of ways to entertain her).
The reason I've forgotten how to do things with my girlfriend is because she doesn't like me smoking weed. If she would have liked me smoking weed and, maybe, would smoke with me, things would be a lot more different. She doesn't like it though, so, no chance in that happening. So, I just have weed on the mind, with her I have sex on the mind and once that's done, back to weed on the mind. She wants me to quit...
Now, what is it that you think I am asking for? What can I dooooooooo? If I quit weed... I'll be so fucking bored out of my mind. It's like I've forgotten what to do without weed... that's what makes it hard for me to quit. I try to think back to the times when I use to not smoke and would hang out with friends for hours... I can't even imagine how I'd hang out with friends for hours without weed now XD! Any advice? ><

Well since i know the town your coming from there isn't much to do except escape....Join a N/A meeting and take her with you....I'm sure there won't be many people in the group since I know mainly everyone down in the valley uses...But hey the advice I give is just for shits and giggles..

Just try to reduce your usage of Weed weekly. And eventually your daily craving for Weed will decrease. If you smoke weed once a month, I'm sure she won't complain right? Or you can quit entirely if you already gotten that far. For entertainment, play on iccup to pass time

It's obvious: the weed blocks your creativity, your ability to entertain yourself and others. So to hell with that stuff, some difficult weeks afterwoods, but then you'll be back to normal.
...and SC is the best drug anyways.

Don't worry. It's not a personality issue. Just an age/maturity issue. The urge to get laid every weekend and smoke weed at all times is just part of HS syndrome. So you are either in HS or you are on your way to become a hopeless crackhead.

There are tons of things to do. How about spending sometime to improve on your career path? Investing? Do sport? Play music? Drawing? Traveling? Do something decent to your life with/without smoking weeds.
The point is, you're just a lazy ass. Think of who you want to see yourself to be 5 years from now and start to do something to archive that goal. Start from small/feasible goals.

You have a difficult decision to make. Stopping smoking weed for a girl you have been dating for 5 months might be going to far. For all you know you will just break up in a few months anyways. But, if you really cant find enjoyment outside of getting high, then maybe stopping getting high will be the better thing to do in the long run. A 5 month relationship is not long, and 6 months getting high is not long either. After 6 months you should be able to quit fairly easy. I've been high everyday for 7 years with only a few exceptions due to travelling. There is a part of me that wants to tell you to enjoy every joint you can, but another part wants me to tell you to just stop getting high everyday.
I was in a similar situation a few years ago with a girl who wanted me to stop. The first year of our relationship she would ask me to stop all the time. Eventually she just gave up and accepted me for who I am. That is what a relationship should be based on, mutual enjoyment of each other. If she doesnt like the real you, then maybe you arent meant to be. You shouldnt change yourself because someone you are with wants to be dating a different version of you. You are who you are. She needs to acept that. I ended up dating this girl for 3.5 years and we ended up breaking up because we are just not compatible. We still like each other and talk from time to time, but we were mature enough to just realise that we were not right for each other.

cliche but.. dont do it for her.. do it for you.. i always tell myself this because i constantly forget.. if you do it for her any repercussions will be on her and your resentment will be on her. if you do it for yourself, you take 100% responsibility for your actions.. and her being happy would be a huge perk.

on a serious note, find a hobby... I smoke way too much and my fiance doesn't touch the stuff... we find other things to do together... It helps that she doesn't mind that I get stoned while she is around, but then if she didn't, she prolly wouldn't be my fiance...

Weed isn't addictive... no reason to quit unless you want to, it's not like you're a heroin addict. If she doesn't like weed then you should smoke while she drinks or you can both drink. If she doesn't like weed or alchohol and you smoke everyday, you guys are probably not the best match.
Also since you have a part time job and have only been dating for five months.. you're probably too young and definitely haven't dated her long enough to make any changes for the relationship. It seems like so many people try to force relationships on themselves.. if things are boring and you're posting on a forum looking for stuff to do, then break up with her and find someone more enjoyable.

how about smoking weed is fairly fruitless and pointless at the same time. that is a good reason. and i don't want to hear any hippie reasons for why weed isn't dumb, unless you have severe anxiety and the only thing that calms you is marijuana then you use it for a pointless reason. Weed may not be addictive physically but you can get acquired to the relaxed nature it can give you and find it difficult to function without that when you quit.

as vsrooks above me stated,i dont think weed has physical addictiveness like heroine or crack. I think it's all in your mindstate. I smoked weed for 6 years at some points recreationally, and some other points very heavily. As i entered university, i dropped it cold with no "withdrawals" or cravings to smoke again. You should be quitting for your own quality of life. (ex: health, future,) I think the best way to just drop the habit cold is to keep yourself busy. Pick up new hobbies, find activities you and your g/f can do together, exercise, or pickup smoking rocks.

Weed can be psychologically addictive. I quit every few months when it starts dragging my mood.
It's also known to negatively effect sexual function over time, so maybe you should quit if you want to be a fuck machine.

Eventually your gonna have to quit weed. My last relationship went to shit because we both relied too heavily on weed. We would smoke together from the point we started hanging out for the rest of the night and we really really drifted because when your both high together your mostly in your own world more than a shared world (atleast when you smoke habitually and it's nothing special). Today would have been a year and a half but we broke up a week ago to figure things out. Honestly I know my problems come from me smoking too much (distant, lack of motivation to do new things, complacent) and I'm gonna have to quit and get my brain back on track.

I did that exact same thing... it was really, really good weed though, and she was the one who found it and I had to "throw it away"; only to have me, later on in the night, scavenging in my dumpster XD!

The problem here is that, Scorpion is obviously a very lazy and unmotivated person. When I see people blaming laziness on weed is drives me crazy. I smoke weed everyday and have a 2400 SAT score, 3.9 GPA, an IQ of 149, and am recognized as one of the best classical guitarists in my state.

I generalized. In my personal experience most people who I have met who are against weed tend to be ignorant and their ignorance is in direct correlation with their dislike of it. Especially females (not to generalize against females, just in my personal experience).

I don't think it's healthy to smoke weed for the rest of your life, so you should quit at some point in time. I don't think it's even remotely necessary to quit now unless you no longer enjoy smoking, but then why even make this post as it would be an easy decision.
If you smoke pot and your GF isn't okay with it, then why are you with her? Making changes for a marriage because you have kids or whatever is fine. Not smoking weed because your GF doesn't like it is retarded at this age. Second of all, why are you two even together? It doesn't seem like you guys should have gotten into a 'serious relationship' in the first place considering you have different opinions on a very large aspect of your life.
It's like going hunting everyday and somehow dating someone from PETA... doesn't make sense. Sorry if this seems like a rant, but I'm so tired of people treating high school/college relationships so seriously and basing life decisions on their relationship.

One thing I've noticed about HS students is that they tend to be completely controlled by their partner. It can be both one-sided and two-sided as well. Obviously the basis for a relationship in the first place is common ground. Maybe scorpion and girl have tons in common, and it's just this one detail that's being a thorn. But if weed is as big a part of his life as it seems like, and the girl's level of disgust is high, I don't see why they should try to force things. You really think that someone is gonna start smoking weed just because of something they read on TL? Tell her you're not quitting unless she is willing to invest time in helping you quit, ie go to meetings and all the bullshit you can think of until she gives up and lets you do what you want.
PS- Why you gonna let your gf control you? Just tell her that it's not a problem for you, so it shouldn't be one for her.
