I just finished watching Code Geass.

Great series. Though I don't really like its graphics (I usually do watch more "realistic" looking animes, if this makes any sense), I just couldn't stop watching it all the way until it was over.

I heard about this anime in the naruto thread of TL, and after I watched the first episode, I had mixed feelings about it. It seemed that it had every bullshit what you can find in any anime/manga (magic, mechs fighting, failed stupid references to European culture, masterminds playing each other.. etc.), but the story was exciting from the start.

The real rollercoaster started from the second episode. Basically after that, you just shit your pants in the end of all the parts (including the last one! ). The turning points are often better than the ones in Death Note.

It is "only" 50 episodes, each 20 minutes long, so not too extensive. Definitely it was worth watching, even if you hate mech fighting as I do.

Ye, its definetly very good. Compared to other animes slow paced episodes. In Code Geass, there is soooo much happening all the time! And its all so cool :D

I started watching the show around july 2007, and since then it became my favorite anime by far.

I love that anime, although R2 wasnt as good (they had to change the story for the second season from what was originaly planned), still, this is an anime to really love, even with all of its flaws.

R2 sucked at times, but the series is good overall. I'd give it 8/10, purely for Lelouch's evil laughter. + Show Spoiler +
I'd like the open ending to be resolved somehow, but... well, too bad there are no reports of Season 3 coming

You didn't mention fanservice, which is a selling/turn-off point for many

I must admit that the Kightmare Frame designs in R2 are a bit toyist but Pizza Hut and CC are always nice fanservice. XD

Lelouch should be one of the best anti-hero genius.

The chance of a Season 3 is quite high. Still a lot of unexplained and unrevealed stuff including CC's name. Mostly, the question will be "When?".

If the show receives a huge amount of viewers, there would likely be a season 3. But I think the show should stop like this or Sunrise just need to release an ova to explain all those mysteries.

Sunrise officialy posted on a forum can't find it atm, that code geass is finished. There is no season 3 coming which is kinda obvious because the story ended.

DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED CG R2.

Any show that sticks close to the originals and finishes without fillers is usually a good show.

I thought R2 was pretty good. Code Geass was entertaining to me because of its major twists, how you don't expect things to happen

+ Show Spoiler +

CG1:
The biggest twist was the death of Euphemia when she accidently got geassed (although this was a little forced, imo)
I haven't watched this in a long time, so if there are any other major twists then please remind me ^^

CG2:
My favorite twist was how lelouch and schneizel switched sides after lelouch was betrayed by the black knights (around ep 20 iirc). Even if it seemed very bs (like how he went to kill the emperor), it was a very entertaining turn of events.

There were also other twists like "Zero shall be exiled" and then everyone dressed up as zero, although I felt this one was a bit dumb.

Of the two main twists, I prefer the CG2 one.

Amazing series, you should definitely watch it. If you want friends to get into anime, it's a good gateway anime as well, almost better than naruto. R2 wasn't as good but R1 was definitely a classic.

If you're interested in streaming, you probably can just type "stream code geass" into google and get an answer.

If you want to download the fansubs, you can grab them off the IRC bots in the group's channels.

Haha same thing happened to me (finding out about it there, not liking the first episode...). I'm not sure if I agree with your comparison do Deathnote, but in any case it's a great anime.
