Same cut scenes and battle visuals over and over. I think the main director/writer? left after the second season and the show became much more episodic in nature. Liked the premise of the show but the execution was horrible. Don't know how anyone can compare star trek/stargate to andromeda. Star Trek/Stargate was much lighter compared to Andromeda which had a much more serious tone. The technobable and "space battles" in trek, and especially stargate, just became so absurd and unrealistic (yes, unrealistic close range pew pew laser space battles). Comparing Andromeda to Battlestar Galactica would be much more appropriate; in which case, BSG >>>> Andromeda. | ||

Battlestar Galactica: Anyone who as seen this remake will tell you how insanely amazing it is. The general story is the last of mankind fleeing a race known as the cylons, who are machines. The humans are looking for earth as they believe it will allow them rebuild their civilization and stay hidden from the cylons. The characters in this series are absolutely amazing, and each one grows throughout the series as each experience they survive leaves their mark. This is a very brief outline but deff worth checking out Dr. Who: There is an old series from like the 60s - 70s or so which i havent seen, but your parents may have watched. More importantly there is a new series, which picked up in 2004 and has currently finished 4 seasons. The show is about a man simply known as the Doctor, who is the last of his race. He travels in his ship which is known as the Tardis which has the ability to travel through time and space. The show follows him and his companion through new worlds, and times in earth history and in mankinds future. The casting is decent and the Doctor will just pull you into the show and want you craving to see his antics more and more. Farscape: One of the best sci fi shows ever created, hands down. This show follows a band of companions(who were former prisoners and people they have encountered) who are constantly fleeing the Peacekeeper army who is chasing a member of their crew as he is believed to know how to make wormholes, while trying to complete their own personal goals. The main character John Crichton (wormhole boy), is trying to find his way home to earth without the peacekeepers finding him, Dargo is attempting to find his son, the Dominar Rigel is trying to reclaim his empire, etc... Each character draws you in as an unlikely group of people has to learn to cooperate while still accomplishing their own goals. | ||
