I lacked the confidence to ask anyone to the prom so I planned to go alone. A few friends of mine were going together in a limo with their dates and such but one of them said he changed his mind and was going in another limo so I could take his spot. So I thought things were looking up until about a week or two before prom he changes his mind again and I got the boot from the limo. So prom ticket already in hand I decided I'd go anyway as it's something I felt I'd regret. Fast forward to prom night. I was getting dropped off by my parents, so I was feeling pretty shitty. So my parents pull up in their minivan which they thankfully had the good sense to park well out of sight of the prom location so I didn't have to be seen like this. I walked up to the place past everyone else's limos alone. Yeah, shitty. So I'm wandering around the prom being a bit of a shutterbug since I was feeling sentimental and I was planning to put them on a website I put together for my senior class later. Somehow, 2 stunningly beautiful girls I knew in passing offered to dance with me. Not at the same time of course. The class VP got on the mic and explained to everyone about the website I put together for the class and I got a standing applause. As the night comes to a close, a third girl (also beautiful, also know in passing) invites me to come into their limo to get driven back home. In summary, went to prom alone in a minivan with my parents. Left the prom having my first dance and my second of my life, both with beautiful women, a standing applause from my whole grade, and going home in a limo. This quiet socially inept nerd couldn't have asked for more or had been happier. So yeah, go to the prom. Don't worry about a date, just have fun. Provided your whole grade doesn't hate you, maybe even go around taking pictures. At least gives you a reason to approach and talk to people. Also, remember that you probably won't see 99% of these people ever again in your life. It's been 6 years since my prom and I think I've seen 5-10 people, and most of those were intentional. | ||
