sooooo in about a week i'm gonna be a senior in college (majoring in electrical engineering) and i have to figure out the stuff that i was supposed to figure out over the past three years because in about 8 months i have to go out into the world and start making a living . i have no idea what i want to do and i don't really have any marketable skills for when i find out.
if i want to go to grad school, i probably have to take the GREs by december which i haven't been preparing for at all. on top of that, i can only think of one person who i could ask for a recommendations and my grades aren't that stellar either.
making big decisions is so bleh :p.

I think grad school is probably your best bet. I'm pretty sure they will help you to find some sort of internship as well to a company in which you will have to slowly make your way up.
It just sounds like you are getting burnt out from school. Finishing your last year at the university is sometimes the hardest to do afterall.

There is nothing that you can sit and "figure out" about life in a time period, and college isn't the ultimate place to do it either. Life is all around you, going out and living it is how you "figure it out."
As for not knowing what you want to do, why not try a little bit of everything? Look for jobs in the classifieds, or go to a labor agency just to get some worldly experience. That way you can at least cross off things that you DON'T want to do, right? This is probably one thing that you CAN figure out on your own. Take some time and think about what you are good at, what you enjoy, and how you can turn those into a career.
How can you not have any marketable skills if you are a electrical engineer? That's a pretty broad field of expertise, I'm sure you can find a job in many places with that skill set.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Your soul dies in 8 months. Cherish that shit.

Why did you wait until the last minute basically to start planning your future after college? that seems pretty retarded, this stuff should have at least been thought about / semi-worked-out at least a year ago precisely so you would not be in this position.
Better hop to it.

Better hop to it. As crappy as Xeris' post sounds, he's right. You're behind the curve now, so you better get off your ass and start working.

I really really doubt he's "behind the curve".
I just finished up my 2nd year, (50% done holy shit time flies so quickly) and i have no idea what to do. It's the same for a lot of people i know. I have plenty of ideas on what NOT to do, however . in a week i'll be starting a job in a totally new field for me (until school starts), and i'm fairly certain i won't enjoy it, but $$ calls.
How do you figure out what you wanna do anyway? So far i have quite a list of things i'd like to not do, but that doesn't help me that much in answering the question. I'm fairly certain i'll graduate without knowing what i want to do. I'll be surprised if my friends will find out as well. A blacklist approach does not work that well considering the original list is near infinite.

1/5th life crisis and you're becoming a senior in college? Expect to live a long time, eh?
Lol, anyways, just don't get so stressed up about it. It doesn't matter if you're behind, that only means you have to work harder and there's nothing wrong with that. Just don't make a decision that you'll regret in life. It's life and as cheesy as it sounds you should cherish it more than anything...

A blacklist approach does not work that well considering the original list is near infinite. I'm not saying you need to know what you're going to do with the rest of your life, I'm just saying that at this point you should've spent some serious time thinking about it and weighing your options instead of just dicking around. College is fun, but it's also a step towards the next step in life, and unless you think about it that way, you're going to be sitting on your ass at home, leeching off of your parents, which would make most people (at least I know this for myself) feel like crap. Please note that I'm not saying the OP has been dicking around, I'm just getting the impression that he hasn't thought much about the future. Maybe I'm wrong, and if I am, I apologize.

I don't think he's behind either. Very few people plan their lives out, and for those that do, their plans always change anyway. Eight months is more than enough time to figure out what to do after college.

Umm, the majority of people (especially in engineering degrees) have no plan past their degree. Most won't decide whether to take graduate school or get a job until their last year, and many don't start looking until the fall.

Hahaha...maybe it's just because I'm Asian and it's been beaten into me to plan for at least a couple years into the future. Or maybe I'm just lame. Or maybe it's both.

Man, I am in the same boat as you. One year left to go and I have no idea what I want to do with my life. I am planning on applying to grad school so I can put off making any big life decisons.
