So the time has come for me to get myself a new car.
I currently drive a Jeep Cherokee Laredo, and the fuel consumption is raping me in the bumbum.
Now I have 10g CAD to spend. Looking for a used car that is extremely reliable, and not too old (ie pre-2000).
Couple of needs: -4 passengers -EASY AND CHEAP TO MAINTAIN -max 2.5L engine
Some cars I am considering:
-Celica GT -Prelude 00 or 01 -Mazda3 sedan -RSX (if I'm lucky and score a good deal)
Was considering an IS300, but too pricey.
Need to make my list longer. Any suggestions?

I got myself a 2001 mazda 626...4 cly..4 door power everything moon roof etc etc. I use to drive a 2001 gmc sierra thing got like 13 mpg so i gave it the boot. the 626 has been super reliable and i love it...plus not many ppl have them so thats cool.

RSX used to be one of my favorites. Mazdas are always a good choice though.

Uh WRX dude. 02-03's have dropped to about 10k, and they rule. AWD, 227 horse, turbo, 2.0L 4cyl, 4 door.

Well if you want cheap to maintain then definitely don't lean to heavily towards an old performance car (some people seem to be suggesting this, but it may not be fore you). Get a less old reliable car.
I just bought a new mazdaspeed 3 and I like it so I think the Mazda3 is probably a good choice.

That's old rusty for you.... Never understood it didn't have wings. Very reliable I'll sell you mine for 2g
Edit: all jokes aside this is what I drive (not my picture)
With custom stereo and bass so powerful you can't breathe when it's turned up half way I love the kids who jack shit from stores and cars and sell cheap

buy a hybrid car like prius to save fuel.

Keep in mind you're in the states where cars are cheaper than your northern neighbors.

that's a car i'm considering too, although unless it's a speed3 which i cannot get, it doesn't have the same cool factor

Where the hell are they 10k? I still keep seeing them for 13+. You don't wanna be getting a car like that (turbo, plus, someone surely beating on it) if its got more than like 70k on it.
I'd go with the prelude or the mazda.
Also, consider a scion tc. Cheap and reliable. My buddy loves his.
