The OP indicates the author is overly hung up on transcendental meaning. The Universe is packed with meaning - infinite meaning! But just not transcendental, eternal, absolute meaning.

Meaning arises in context and relationship. From events, we form narratives that give ourselves meaning. A narrative might be "I do this and that so I can be rich and famous and people like me and I'll be great!" Another narrative might be "I am good in this life and God will reward me in the afterlife." Another narrative might be "I am a destroyer of meaning; there is no meaning, and I will share this revelation with everyone!" Some people find meaning in non-meaning. And some people are just depressed.

People sometimes seem so upset that life is seemingly just about eating, sleeping, fucking, shitting, and surviving. Come on! Have you never eaten, slept and fucked? Those things are grand. And so is being in love, and so is being single and free. And so is riding a bicycle or playing a fun game. You have to invent your meaning.

Start with the basics. Put food in your mouth. Healthy food. Sleep 7 or 8 hours a day. Get sunshine. Go outside and be active. Talk to people. Spend time in solitude, thinking. Embrace some discipline. Meaning will take care of itself.

Travis: the goal isn't even necessarily to get past systems of thinking (which I'm not sure is even possible). The goal is to see that meaning is constructed in relationship and context, and then to go about constructing meaning for oneself.

There is meaning in life, but people become distressed that personal meaning cannot account for everything. People want a total explanation for all that is. They want there to be one absolute meaning that applies for all of us equally (the appeal of God, for example).

The key is to learn to be content with partial meaning, subjective/personal meaning, etc.

Also, I would call into question that there is an absolute reality "out there." We think there is, and we can't imagine what its meaning is. But I would argue that reality is perception (I'd make this argument while carefully trying to avoid solipsism). Reality is composed of infinite perceptions.

So make your perception meaningful.
