I've been thinking of a movie to watch for the past hour and have found none. I believe I've seen every movie that everyone I know have ever recommended me. Right now I'm just looking for something good to watch, I don't care what genre. Who can save me?

It's an honor of the french flag.
You have to watch it in that order.

Which languages do you speak?
In English, there is never any harm rewatching Spaceballs.
Also, I remember really liking Muppets in space 10 years ago.

- Koyaanisqatsi (an art film with a strong message. One should have seen this one)

- Plan 9 From Outer Space (the "worst movie of all times", but it's become very popular because it's really extremely funny, and unintentionally so. Legally downloadable, see Wikipedia or archive.org or Google Video). There's even an operating system named after this film)

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang - it's an incredibly overlooked movie imo, I love the humor and the suspense within the film. And, Robert Downey Jr. is a SICK mutha.

I've seen pretty much all of the popular cult/indie films which include big lebowski, fight club, equilibrium (which sucked I thought), kiss kiss bang bang. I just fucking raided two dvd stores, went through 500-1000 movies total and could only pick out four, which were four months three weeks whatever, the movie about abortion, control, the documentary about joy division, this is england, and sex and lucia.

Hmm, let me think...

Some good Korean movies are the Vengeance movies (Oldboy, No sympathy for Lady Vengeance, No sympathy for Mr Vengeance.)
Also Brotherhood of War which is a korean war movie, it's probably my favorite war movie.

Hmm, the lastest movie I saw (that was good) was Wall-E, but I'm guessing you already saw it.
American movies are hard for me to remember since most of them are so generic (atleast the newer ones). But at the top of my head, Schindlers list, Memento, The shawshank Redemption and Goodfellas. I bet you probably have already watched them before, but if you have not seen them in quite some time it's always nice rewatching them.

Anyways, that's what I can think of right now.

what genre(s) do you like? because ive ACTUALLY seen more than 3/4 of the movies posted in this thread, most of which are meant specifically to be obscure. other than indie/cult films, because most of my suggestions for top quality ones have already been made.

4 months 3 weeks 2 days, lives of others, hidden, head-on are all good european movies. i dont really know about "obscure", but theyre good.

bolero/the red violin if youre into european movies and classical music.

a personal favorite in general is the usual suspects. its an independent film, its a classic, and its AWESOME.

also: pulp fiction, apocalypse now, se7en, american beauty, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, dr. strangelove, donnie darko, amadeus, the graduate, shaun of the dead, crash/hotel rwanda, and garden state are suggestions that come to mind.

also requiem for dream, kill bill 1 and memento, though i didnt like those myself.

also, cult films not already mentioned: edward scissorhands, rocky horror picture show, clockwork orange, sin city.

in theaters now (in the us, dunno about elsewhere) are a handful of good movies: wall-e was great, kung fu panda was cute, wanted was action-y, and of course the dark knight was pretty epic. also encounter at the end of the world if youre into documentaries. also the new hulk and hellboy 2 were decent action movies IMO.

then there are series with the obvious big ones being: indiana jones, lotr, star wars, jurassic park, and harry potter if you like the books. also james bond is kind of a series but more of an endless chain. P.S. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN MAMA MIA IT'S THE MOST RIDICULOUS MOVIE EVER. EVERYONE IN THE THEATER LAUGHED SO HARD EVERY TIME PIERCE BROSNAN SANG. ahem.

oh, and the godfather "series" also. duh.

other movies that rereading this post has reminded me of for one reason or another: manhattan, toy story, glory, platoon, forrest gump, rainman, superman, titanic, alladin, adaptation, straw dogs, children of men, chinatown, happy feet, million dollar baby, the philadelphia story, the remains of the day, saving private ryan, the goodfellas, the truman show, some like it hot, time bandits, rear window, notorious, the last picture show, alien, pretty woman, shrek, men in black, gladiator, oh another series is the die hard series (1 > 4 > 2 > 3 though thats subject to change as the one ive seen most recently always jumps to the top).

dont think i said citizen kane yet. also, casablanca. those are kind of for reference.

lives of others, crouching tiger hidden dragon.

theres a LOT of movies, and i have a list which is 28 pages of movies worth seeing (IMO), but i realized that i could be totally off in my suggesting because i dont really know your taste in movies. maybe what are youre favorites and least favorites, and what kinds (genres) do you generally like?

I'm honestly ok with any genre, my favorite movies are being john malkovich, demonlover, inland empire, I guess I'm a david lynch fan. And I've seen 90% of the movies you recommended except for some of the classics. I guess I like movies that you have to watch at least two times, something like "swimming pool" etc. But it has to be good.

Mainstream ( you have probably seen those already ):

Human traffic
Some classic anime ( ghost in the shell, stuff by miyazaki ... )
O Brother
Fargo
To Live ( this film is awesome but well you Chinese, and you probably know it ^^ )
Infernal Affairs ( same comment than before, btw it is the original version of the Departed and it is better imo ).
Brassed Off ( sad )
Trainspotting
Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter... and Spring

Less mainstream ( at least outside France/Belgium ) :

Bernie ( i dont know if there is an English translation )
Man Bites Dog

The two last films are about crazy people and are uber funny if you like dark humor and have some references ( the Petit Gregory cocktail ^^ )
Dont watch man bites dog is you cant stand strong graphic violence ( NC-17 :O ) .
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_Bites_Dog_(film)

Btw you should just make a super list of films you have already seen because people will still tell you the same films over and over.

Brando as kurtz is just mindblowing. the horror monologue is.. well the best monologue ive ever heard an actor deliver. absolutely flawless in execution.

Apex

It's a really old sci-fi film about time travel. I loved it when I was younger, but I have not seen it in ages. (So by that I mean it might be a horrible movie by todays standards.)

Well worth the watch though from what I remember, and I highly doubt you've seen it.

EDIT: I just noticed I'm a lurker now... Wow 1000+ posts, my e-penis grows larger.
Not bad for a cat toy.

Bad BOy Bubby

this film is totally amazingly amazing

Bad Boy Bubby is just that: a bad boy. So bad, in fact, that his mother has kept him locked in their house for his entire thirty years, convincing him that the air outside is poisonous. After a visit from his estranged father, circumstances force Bubby into the waiting world, a place which is just as unusual to him as he is to the world.
