Do you remember? Saturday mornings..
Tom and Jerry (old school) Woody the woodpecker (old school) Pinky and the Brain (90's)
I watched those cartoons when I was younger and I can safely say I still enjoy watching those cartoons now. I hate how cartoons have went down the crapper in recent years. Writers and producers have replaced wit and humor for loud sounds and crazy colors.
I hate most Cartoon Network shows, aside from Adult swim. The script for most of their cartoons arent clever, funny, nor make any sense.
I admit that older cartoons are not politically correct. Native Americans, blacks, asians, and religion was all fair game. Heck, Tom and Jerry was down right fucken racist. (Tom answering to the black maid "Mammy") However, the antics and actions of the characters were humorous and sometimes the writers slipped in a joke only adults would understand.
Woody Woodpecker was a great variety cartoon show. If any of you remember the episode about "The house of the future" or something like that. The episode show cased how we will live in the future with alot of creative ideas. I remember the car where the headlights were breasts. Also, the auto burping machine where you would run your food through so that you wouldn't burp when you ate it.
Pinky and the Brain was pure genius. I loved their schemes and plans to take over the world. Most of the episodes mocked the actions of real individuals. Creative, witty, and great story lines make this cartoon one of my favorite.
I miss quality cartoons. I can never watch cartoons on CN now. They are loud, obnoxious, and annoying. I hope that when you all have a family, you will let your children enjoy classic quality cartoons.

I don't think the quality of cartoons have dropped at all, it's just that you're nostalgic. It's kinda like pokemon - many of us love the original 150 but we think anything after that is retarded, which is silly, as there is no difference between earlier pokemon and later pokemon if you really think about it. We just happened to be at the right target age for the earlier pokemon (thus liking them) and then when the later pokemon came about, we were too old.
Kid's today probably love today's cartoons, and think older cartoons are boring and dumb.

Pinky was awesome, the other 2 and cartoons similar to them were lame, racist and the same stupid shit repeated every chapter, i hated them as a kid and thought they were for retards.
And yeah i cant stand at all these new cartoons. I miss the calm oldies with bigger stories to tell and much better jokes.
|
You don't watch them anymore, but how much older are you now compared to how old you used to be? The humor, the action, everything just seems more childish when you look back at the old stuff, same as when you look at new cartoons today
except x-men. That one still fucking rocks

A lot of times, cartoons that you thought were good turn out to be pretty stupid as well. Some like Pinky and the Brain are true gems though.
However, the present day cartoons seem to be even worse. They're completely devoid of any intelligence. It's a bit distressing.

Those shows have slipped past the grip of my basic cable. Although I still see Pinky and the Brain on YTV sometimes, and I must admit I always liked looney tunes over tom and jerry.
|
Dude do you remember animaniacs? That show was so awesome, clever and original in many ways T.T.
Other shows that come to mind are Dexter' Laboratory (very imaginative world I loved it), Rocko's Modern Life (Looking back at it now, you realize all the double entendres), and the original Batman series(The darker version, early 90's one). Yeah the Batman series was amazing, even though I was like 7 or 8 I watched that show religiously.
I'm probably missing a lot others, but I'm sure I'll remind some of you of other shows.
O yeah, The real Bugs Bunny and Daffy shows were great, the Ted Avery ones were real good. Sure its slapstick humor and cross dressing, but the antics are timeless in a sense, sad to see no one's trying to revive looney tunes anymore, I guess its too outdated for kids now.
|
LOL i remember Animaniacs and Freakazoid
|
I can always watch scooby - doo. I agree that cartoons these days are much more obnoxious having the antagonist more appealing to the kids than the main characters. I wish they would bring back the looney toons.
|
batman beyond was pretty good actually
courage the cowardly dog was the fucken shit
(i know these arent old, i watched looney tunes every saturday morning when i was a kid too)
|
yeah new CN cartoons suck ass
boomerang?

They used to show all kinds of awesome stuff like ducktales, gooftroop and darkwing duck here in the Netherlands.
Nowadays its all gay anime crap, thanks a lot pokemon fad. I hope something better airs around the time I decide to get children.

Oh fuck.
Animaniacs, Freakazoid, the original Looney Tunes, Gooftroop, Ducktales, Darkwing, Dexter's Lab, Pinky and the Brain.
/nostalgia overwhelming

All of this plus SWAT Kats. SWAT Kats was the shit.

I loved SWAT Kats back when I was in elementary school haha.
But the only cartoons that I watched back then that I can still enjoy now are the Pinky and the Brain, Rocko's Modern Life, Animaniacs, Hey Arnold, and Dexter's Lab.
Oh yeah, Beast Wars / Beasties was totally cool.
Let's see... I watched Arthur a lot too. I watched Goosebumps quite a bit. I followed Pokemon for the first season or so. Digimon was alright, but by then I had mostly outgrown the influx of crappy animes targeted at kids.
Oh yeah, and I could never miss an episode of Bill Nye.
Haha, you can probably guess my age within an accuracy of 2-3 years just based on my childhood TV shows.

I only miss Tom & Jerry by Fred Quimby - it's just soooo good! Others were... meh...
