Caught a big rabbit today :[. It brought it to the door so I got him to drop it and I put him inside. The rabbit was just laying there and it blinked once, and it was laying on the mat just outside my back door. So, I picked up the mat and put the rabbit outside on the dirt. I came back like an hour later and there were ants on it and stuff... I assumed it had died by then. I got my shovel out and dug a little hole. I wanted to be sure the rabbit was dead so I poked it a few times with the shovel. Once on the back, nose, ears, and around his eye. No response. I eventually got up enough nerve to touch the rabbit's chest and see if I felt anything moving, like a heart etc. I didn't feel anything so I went ahead and buried it. Poor guy :[

Cats can get worms that way. You should never let your cat do this.

I hope you're joking. That's nature. The 'poor victim' has a very highly developed set of senses and physical abilities designed to keep it alive. Additionally, rabbits are of course known for breeding rapidly to replenish losses. The cycle of life is not something to mourn over.

Well some people have feelings and don't think everything in a scientific perspective.

You couldn't just make a little hole in your yard, and simply bury it?

Was it to much work? I find lack of respect for any living thing to be highly doushebagish.

I hope one day you're just sitting there in the park, and you see them.

No this is so fucking wrong. The cat was giving the OP a gift because he loves you so much. To the OP, you should have eaten the squirrel, now your cat feels much resentment towards you because you wouldn't accept his fucking gift ya douchebag.

Bad news for the rabbit.

I really love cats but, oh, god, I want to smack my cat in the face when she brings a bird or a mouse. Cause most cats kill just for fun, not cause they are hungry.

Really nice you buried it though.

p.s. if you let the cat eat stuff, be sure she is using her pills like Drontal or w/e it is you use in the US.

Damn this reminds me of the time my cat found a little rabbits den and caught a baby bunny. She grabbed it and took it to the back porch while the thing was still alive. All you could hear was the scream of the baby rabbit; the worst sound you will ever hear in your life.

She was so proud of herself, I guess she felt it was her way of providing for the family. I tried to save the rabbit, but it was too late. The whole time she was trotting a long like she was some valiant warrior, blood trickling down her mouth; it was horrible .

Good thing it was a baby. Killing the adult rabbit would've ended up starving an entire family.

Why would you ever feel the need to bury a dead animal that you've had no emotion connection to? They don't get buried when they die in the wilderness, they decompose normally and sustain the ecosystem. You shouldn't need to impose human rites on an dead animal when the most beneficial thing would be to just leave it.

man, i'll just say you were lucky. I've witnessed a double murder from my own cat ;(. I remember waking up in the morning with a bird corpse laying at the right side of my bed, and my cat was playing with the other corpse on the living room.

Also a week ago, my bloody cat brought one dead animal each day of the week, total toll was like: 3 birds, 2 lizards and 1 mouse. ;(

Very difficult moral issue. You are damned if you do, damned if you don't. The best thing you do with a dying animal is leave it alone if you care about what people think of you... not that everyone will love you, but if you kill it to put it out of its misery you are an uncaring monster according to too many people.

Hockey? wtf?

My dog has managed to kill two birds in the past month, and made another sucker drown in my pool. Kinda feel bad

No this is so fucking wrong. The cat was giving the OP a gift because he loves you so much. To the OP, you should have eaten the squirrel, now your cat feels much resentment towards you because you wouldn't accept his fucking gift ya douchebag.

hahahahha it's a rabbit man!

Yes please disregard everything I say because I have absolutely nothing of legitimacy to cling to. Oh well at least I didn't start the TL-D2 team and then go away after two weeks (INDIRECTNESS)

My dog killed a squirrel once... but I did in fact put it in the trash. I didn't throw it exactly... but come on now.

You couldn't just make a little hole in your yard, and simply bury it?

Was it to much work? I find lack of respect for any living thing to be highly doushebagish.

it's spelled 'douchebag'

also wow stop being a little bitch about burying animals, who do you think you are? yeah it's all romantic and fine when you preach about it but would you really want to have some dead animal rotting right by your house with the worms eating at it, or cleanly incinerated? are wild animals 'doushebags' because they don't bury their own?

strangely enough i would bury the rabbit myself but you don't have to be such a judgmental prick about it.

I have the right to say whatever I want, and to be honest. The whole douchebag thing was a joke.

Sorry, if you got so into it...., and had to defend your position on the whole matter of animal burial, or what not. I'm so SORRY.... I didn't spell douchebag correctly.

I mean FOR THE LOVE OF GOD !

THE SPELLING POLICE ALREADY HAVE A WARRANT FOR MY ARREST!!! since the whole spelling/grammar incident.

WHAT AM I TO DO?

I promise I'd spell it correctly next time...

I really don't care what you call me, and I have no idea if animals who are thrown away are incinerated.

I mean I bet you can't go to sleep with the idea of animal flesh rotting in your yard...

GOOD GOD WHAT ABOUT YOUR PRECIOUS DIRT?!

You call me a judgmental prick. and a little bitch.

I call you a whinny little girl, and a DOUSHEBAG

That's right "DOUSHEBAG" not "Douchebag"

Go make some cookies, and stop crying.

Your cat seems to be quite amazing if he managed to catch a big rabbit :O
As stated before, he/she also seems to like you, since you got the rabbit as a trophy.

I dont understand the trolling here, because you and your cat did well.

Speaking of random acts of violence in the animal kingdom, was the pelican video posted here?
