Meandering down the monotonous existence of being an unpublished writer I have found myself, as all writers do at a decision which will shift my life forever. Live out the melancholy and cliché existence of the addicted and addicting man drowning in self-loathing and burdened with an ego so large that Atlas would have a hard day at work holding it up. Or fall into the meaningless, unromantic, dull, lifeless existence that it is to be living in the middle. A plethora of meaning and living, or a listless existence filled with happiness.

If my writing career leads me to eventually post on Teamliquid for answers, I will shoot myself.

Here's to hoping!

edit: I'm curious about your writing though. Tell me about your career.

Publish your work under creative commons or whatever it is that's the artists' equivalent of GPL. Then TL can enjoy it and give your otherwise unpublished work an audience!

Unless you actually like want to eat off of it. Then... ..... .... eh, I'm sure you'll figure something out.

Damnit, I thought this thread would be about the board game.

If you're serious about writing, read each of the books and essays this guy cites, especially Zimmerman's "On Writing Well." That book changed my life.

Reading that was painful, partially because it needs help (what ahrara posted is good) and also because I used to write poetry like that in highschool. I get what you're saying but... it's overly melodramatic imo and muddy adjectives really drag it down. In fact, adjectives suck most of the time in poetry. You need to describe actions and situations rather than just pinning a word onto an emotion.

Also, plethora does not mean 'a lot.' It means 'too much.' Having a plethora of something is usually a bad thing. D:

You can ignore the first paragraph if you're doing it purposefully in satire.

The trouble with being a writer is that you always think you have something important to say.

Maybe I read too much into it, but the last sentence just doesn't make that much sense. Excess of meaning/living vs. listlessness and happiness? The comparison doesn't fit the ones you made above.

Meandering down the monotonous (redundant, implied by meandering) existence of being an unpublished writer I have found myself, as all writers do, (comma) at a decision (usage - you do not find yourself at a decision. you make a decision) which will shift (questionable usage - shift means to move from one place to another. you're always "shifting" your life, I think what you're looking for is a stronger word, like transform) my life forever. Live out the melancholy and cliché existence of the addicted and addicting man (usage... unless you really meant to say that you yourself were addictive) drowning in self-loathing and burdened with an ego so large that Atlas would have a hard day at work ("at work" redundant, for obvious reasons) holding it up. Or fall into the meaningless, unromantic, dull, lifeless existence that it is to be living in the middle (how is this different from a cliche existence). A plethora of meaning and living, or a listless existence filled with happiness (fragment... maybe you were looking for a dash between this and the last sentence).

just trying to help bud

keep writing and reading

shit that was fun. to think, some people get paid to tear apart people's writing

Shift can also mean to slightly change the orientation of.

I thought that "addictive" can also mean "has a tendency to get addicted to things," not only "has the property of causing users to be addicted to this."

Dashes aren't proper punctuation. Semicolon would work better here, but I see this more as free-form poetry than as prose.
