nassot, if the krait was too small for you, I'm pretty sure the chinese Salmosa is way WAY too small.
As far as my thoughts on the mouse with starcraft, I think it performs "smoother" than the logitech mini optical for obvious reasons and I love the small size. I play around ~170ish apm, but it works great and definitely feel like I can target units better. Though as far as apm, it hasn't changed much since the logitech but I feel the transition from the LMO is almost natural. The feel of the Salmosa compared to the LMO is just basically summed up to "lighter" and "smaller". I find that generally better and as I said, the transition was very smooth due to the "finger grip" type.
The thing with RTS games are that you primarily would use a "finger grip" to have the most amount of control. You rarely ever have to worry about lifting off the mouse during the game. Basically, the smaller mice would be more ideal for better control. This is why the LMO is so popular among the pros. For SC, it's definitely hands down Salmosa(maybe the US version if you have a large hand) among those mice listed. The price is great and has the same sensor as the Deathadder. DA is awesome and one of my favorite mice, but it's a little too big. Only thing you'll miss on the Salmosa is the extra buttons. Lachesis is terrible (and yes I have one), I don't even want to get into it unless someone is considering one.
I was a little hesitant to sell my last Salmosa on ebay since I really like this mouse and this smaller version won't be available outside Asia. Maybe some thought I was a little bias before about the mouse review since I was selling a couple at the time, but the truth is that I still love it and I stand by everything I said then.

Could you do a comparison with a logitech MX500/510? I believe it's roughly the same size at the G7 and some of their other newer mice too.

Why do you have a loonie if you're from the US?

I thought people used smaller mice in starcraft cause asians generally have small hands, not because a small mouse is adapted for the game structure? Personally I like to grasp it with my whole hand, not with just my fingertips, so I don't think this mouse is for me. I thought my diamondback was way too small.

MX500 is roughly the size of the intelliexplorer 3 if you aren't aware of that. I believe the US salmosa is going to be slighter smaller than that, but not much smaller.

No extra buttons = no purchase for me.

Can anybody help me out?
I just bought a Salmosa and I really like it, but I find that I get a really large lift-off distance (~4-5mm) when I use it on my Goliathus Speed mat. I think the mat's the problem, because when I use the mouse on my bare desk I get virtually NO lift-off!
So, can anyone recommend me a mat which works very well with the Salmosa (most important - very little lift-off!)?
Thanks.
-K.
P.s. Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I just registerd on the site and I can't make new ones yet

You are lifting your mouse off of the mat? More than likely you had a really heavy mouse before and you were used to lifting it slightly to move it. Give the salmosa about a week to get used to (took me about 2-3 weeks to get fully comfortable with it, now it's my fav mouse).
Yeah it's not the mouse pad b/c I have the same mouse pad as well and I am not lifting it off of the pad. You are just probably getting used to the salmosa is all.

I think we've misunderstood each other, lol!
I'm talking about the distance above the mat you have to hold the mouse for the sensor to stop reading. A really good mouse/mat combo means that it stops reading when you lift the mouse just 1mm above the mat, bad combos result in needing to lift more than 6mm for the sensor to stop reading.
This is a problem because it results in your cursor moving when you don't want it to and is very bad for FPS and RTS games.

I can't help you with a pad suggestion, but you could try putting on mouse skates.

lol no we didn't understand each other. Lifting the mouse off of the pad right = distance above the mat no?
