In case ppl hadn't realised wc3 is much easier to learn than sc, and its timings and strats are much easier too. And if you REALLy REALLY REALLY think that grubby or moon could do as well as jaedong boxer flash nada oov july bisu etcetc at micro in wc3 then I think you are probably slightly insane because if you just watch the speed and accuracy of their clicks and their ability to multitask it clearly outranks any wc3 player. Add in the fact that (I think almost certainly) SC has more strategic depth and you get a game that any SC gosu could easily master and dominate at...imo. Have you heard of Elky? One of the best Starcraft players of his time was a terrible failure when he tried Warcraft and then made the move from War3 failure to poker. I expect the same from jaedon flash nada july bisu etc etc when SCII ships.

I'm pretty sure WC3 is more different from SC2 than SC1 is. WC3 is missing the macro psychology that's so important in SC and can be assumed to be equally important in SC2. Sure, the mechanics might be easier but without the fundamental mindset, you won't be any good. Not only that, WC3 isn't nearly as competitive as SC. The best WC3 players just haven't been exposed to as much hard-core competition as SC players. WC3 is more competitive in every region of the world except South Korea. BUT I will not argue SC is a much harder game that requires far more skill... 14 hours of training a day just to compete is insane but I am confident SCII will not require this kind of "slavery" to be among the upper echelon of players simply because of the drastic changes in macromanagement.

Oh and yeah I believe the best players will be those who concentrate on practicing the most and not the ones who come from a specific game. Koreans from professional teams obviously have the upper hand in this situation because they have a house full of other players willing to play pretty much all the time, coaches who take care they practice enough and things like that.

I really can't see any of the pros from either game making into the major leagues. Maybe I'll be eating these words some day. But we'll leave that to time. haha way to be different, fully support here!

a) Gameplay is supposed to be much more similar to SC than WC3 b) Gameplay might still be different enough that both SC and WC3 players will have a hard time adjusting. Completely new players or players from other games might have an easier start with SC2
