The following is simply a rant. Don't take it too seriously.
Why the hell does everyone surf 4chan these days?!
I am getting sick of seeing people spouting anonymous-isms like "epic lulz", "[adjective] [nown] is [adjective]" (eg. successfull troll is successful"), "barrel roll", "shoop da woop" etc on normal forums like TL.
Using such expressions anywhere other than the chans or somethinawfull etc, just advertises yourself as A COMPLETE TOOL!!!!! Also, a statement is not made any more profound or amusing when expressed in the form of a motivational poster.
I've been lurking, and posting a little, on TL for the best part of 3 years and, correct me if I am wrong, it seems to have got so much worse over the past few months or so. No fucking surprise really. It happens on so many forums; someone posts a link to a vaguely amusing thread on 4chan.
Half the forum members know that the chans are the darkest shit holes on the net and ignore it. The other half think they have discovered some awesome subculture, adopt /b/ mannerisms and, lo and behold, another forum in infected.
The scientology bullshit just made this fucking worse by giving so much exposure to 4chan and it's ilk.

I think a lot of people use those without even realizing where they come from. I've used a lot of those (not on a forum mind you) and I certainly didn't know they orginated from 4chan.

my closest irl friends are chanboys, and they filter a lot of the humorous stuff to me, so it doesn't really bother me. i wouldn't go on 4chan myself, but hearing about some of the invasians & memes is pretty funny

It's funny, really. Most forums complain that they're turning into 4chan, and 4chan complains that it isn't what it used to be. This can even set up a bit of a chain: Slashdotters complain that slashdot is turning into digg, and diggers complain that digg is turning into 4chan. 4channers complain that 4chan is turning into fail (I don't remember exactly what, I haven't lurked there in months).

Even the 4channers hate that shit. If you go to any /b/ thread there's always some dude claiming "Damn it, THIS RIGHT HERE is the cancer that's killing /b/".
