"yesterday" I stayed up to 3:40am studying and actually not wasting too much time doing anything else. Woke up aroudn 6am.I went to school had a 2 hour free time before the exam, wanted to sleep there but couldn't cuz i drank too much coke. I didn't really feel too sleepy while taking the test, i thought i did "OK" and sadly not the result i wanted...

After the exam i ran home (about 4miles) instead of driving and left my bag in the car because i wanted to take a nap, and without getting somewhat tired its like impossible for me to fall asleep with all that coke in my stomach.

Tomorrow i will have my chemistry final, also an important test, i bought a 8pack diet coke with 46mg/12 fl oz caffeine to help me stay awake for long enough tonight, and not just drop on the floor tomorrow, probably should of bought coffee instead tho...~_~

I assume you already know this and don't need me telling you this, but this is not a good way to go about studying and taking tests.

1) Why did you get 2 less hours of sleep if you were running early after going to bed at 3:40am?

2) Relying on substances to be aware during a test is bad, but I did that several times so I can't really complain.

3) I'm not sure if regular soda was the best way to go even if you were sure you were gonna use something.

4) You are exhausted now and are going to stay up studying and get up early via substances? You are taking a bigger risk than reducing the quantity of your last-minute studying I think.

Again I'm being hypocritical to some extent, but when I had 8am exams I slept in the day before and stayed up all night studying, and downed a red bull or something during those 2 hours... if the test was later I went to bed in time to get at least 6-7 hours of sleep, and more if I could afford it. How efficient is your last minute exhausted studying anyway?

I never go into an exam with less than 5.5 hours of sleep. Some people can pull off the all-nighter into exam routine, but I am not one of them. If you aren't one of those superhumans, do what actually works for you by trying various things out for the regular tests.

Study routines also vary from person to person, but in general cramming the night before is one of the worst solutions. For the exams for my course, I started studying 3 weeks in advance to slowly absorb the material and retain it since I was required to absorb an ungodly amount of knowledge for the exams. Even then I ran out of time and I went into cramming mode the night before, which was really unfortunate (I blame my rowing captain for putting me out on the water 4x the week of my damn exams including right after one of them) but I still forced myself to get 5.5 hours of sleep, and wake up 2 hours in advance of the exam, routines that I have tried out and know that work for me. The mental state of knowing that I've fulfilled all the requirements for me to succeed in the exam is just as crucial as the knowledge I have.

And so is my BS-ability, which declines rapidly as I get less and less sleep - hence sufficient sleep is absolutely crucial for me.

I generally went to bed for my chemistry finals at like 2:30 am or 4 am depending on how much I felt I needed to study... then wake up a couple hours before the test and study some more. I did the best going to sleep late and waking up for 7:30 am finals fairly early... >_>

I will stay up all night to get homework done, but never exams (I can't remember if I've ever pulled and all-nighter for an exam...I probably have). Even a few hours of sleep is better than none though.

I thought all Asians (Yes you, GS) knew that getting less than 7 hours of sleep before a test is pretty detrimental in the long run. You should have slowly been studying instead of trying to cram an all-nighter and then take a test with only a few hours of sleep.

Once I studied for a week, a day before the test I forced myself to get 10 hours of sleep (yes, that meant sleeping at 8:30). When I woke up I was totally refreshed and ready to take the test - I retained all the information I needed (even stuff I didn't study but remembered from lectures and stuff) and was very happy with the test results when they got back Finals really weren't too big of a deal for me anyways because for math I needed a -14% to get a 89% in the class -_-

I thought your parents made you study, like everyday anyways?
