So, you know when you work at a retail store, you're on the lookout for suspicious people. Well yea, long story short, I stopped a woman at the door and told her to take the hair out of the bag, only to be utterly shocked when she took the hair out of the SHOPPING BAG and showed me the hair she BOUGHT. And to top that off, it was in front of a crowd of people who simply shook their head in dismay, while I scurried away with my head hung in deep, abject humiliation.
So that would explain my current situation, why I'm wallowing in a corner of the back storage room. Somebody please post an embarassing situation that happened to them so I feel better T_T
Man I feel so bad for you aha. The only thing I can say is that it's not a huge deal and in a few days you'll have lost that horrible feeling every time you think back on the event. I can't really think of anything really embarassing that's happened to me. Sorry o_O
Basically, I work at a Beauty supply store. There, we have a LOT of thefts due to the nature of prices and the fact that it's so easy to steal (or so they think).
I tend to make the right calls when people steal hair or beauty products, so I'm pretty confident in pointing out those who steal.
Basically, this is the story of how it all went wrong.
Apologize briefly to the client. Allow yourself to be wrong sometimes. The boss better have a keeper who gets the thieves and is sometimes wrong then a retailer who sits back. If he doesn't see that just sit back and let them all get away with it. A storeowner that jumps on mistakes like that should go bankrupt.

Ah, the boss are my parents ;o
They're actually telling me it's no big deal, it was just a mistake, and they sorta helped play it off after I left. It just feels REALLY embarassing to be placed in this sort of situation, that's all.
I've never worked in retail, but I imagine the worst is when you catch someone shoplifting but aren't allowed to stop them. Many places have a company policy that you cannot place a hurtful hand on a customer, even if they're stealing, and indeed a trustworthy, diligent employee at the Whole Foods Market where I live got fired because he chased down and tackled a shop lifter who took like $300 worth of groceries.
yeah so i tried to duck a cop who was making a uturn to pull me over last night. i hit my lights and turned onto a deadend to hide. he went past and as i was about to go WOOHOOO, he hits reverse and finds me. Then i had to admit i thought i was slick and got caught
Don't worry about it, I always attract some store employee who thinks I stole something and asks to check my bags. It gets annoying, but as long as you weren't trying to be a jerk about it and tried to do it in a quick and orderly fashion we understand you're just doing your job.
