So, I'm looking to go buy a car, preferrably no more than 14-15k in price. Looked at the Saturn Ion 3 today, liked that over the Toyotas/Hondas/Hyundai/etc that were in the lot. why are the Suzukis so cheap? they were even cheaper than comparable Kias (speaking of which screw Kias :-/). So what cars would you guys suggest? The models listed above are the main ones I am looking at (and mitsubishis). Would prefer 2006 or later models.

My suggestion (if you want you can even read my past few blog entries on cars lol) would be to read the April and May editions of consumer reports if you can get your hands on them. I learned a ton about what's out there from them, and it helped me do further research on various cars.

If you just want a reliable, somewhat boring car to get you from A to B then look up Consumer Reports and stuff. Their ratings, while somewhat biased, are usually helpful indicators of what to look for.

Kias and Suzukis are cheap because that's the market they cater to, because you get what you pay for. What made you pick the Ion 3 over the other cars, exterior I'm assuming? You can get a Honda Fit brand new for 13k! I would personally get an old civic, camry or something and be done with it.
