This was the synthesis problem on my midterm, and I loved it! So much easier that I expected, and you can do it it two steps with no other products.

Whoa that double bond has me stumped =(
I donno if i can get it in 2 steps, was thinking turning OH into carbonyl, then adding organolithium (or grignard), then doing some sort of elimination to get double bond. Maybe i should study some more =p

(altho i think you have more material than me, that malonic ester shit isnt until next chapter for me)
