Backstory: We've had 2 cats that are going on 9 years old since they were kittens. About 2 months ago we picked up 2 young cats (vet says ~1 year old, we think they're a bit younger) that had been dumped near our house. We had been keeping the new cats separate in a spare bedroom and planned on giving them to a local shelter, but recently decided to tyr to integrate them so we could keep the new cats. The older cats naturally don't like having the younger cats introduced to their territory, while the young cats are totally fascinated by the older cats and like to stalk them. This combination is having good and bad days so far.
One of the older cats is a rather large gray tiger, about 14 pounds (~6.3 kg for those of you in parts of the world that use the sensible system). The new cats are both quite small, 7 pounds (~3.2 kg) at most.
Anyway, today the big cat is getting a drink from the bathroom sink, which apparently has the best water in the house in his view. (Putting it in a bowl instantly makes it much worse, somehow.) One of the little cats gets up on the toilet behind him to watch. At some point he turns around and sees her there, starts the normal hiss growl etc. routine. When she doesn't back down, rather than swinging at her or some other normal cat reaction, he slowly stretches one of his front paws out straight towards her and then, when it's all the way out, sticks out his claws. It was so human, almost like it was straight out of a cartoon. "See the paw? See the claws? Any questions?" The small cat immediately jumped down and cowered behind the toilet. I so wish I had a video, or at least a picture, but I didn't have a camera of any sort with me, naturally.
