There is no point in going upstairs. You’ll be trapped most likely anyway. And with your disease, you’re no good to your friends. The only way you can save them or at least give them time, is by sacrificing yourself. Rodrigo screams for help, and you’re quick to answer the call; you grab all your strength left and tackle the incoming zombie.
You look at Rodrigo and tell him to guard Alma safe. He looks at you in a suspicious way, but before he’s able to say anything, you charge at the zombies flooding the door.
On a successful hit, you probably knock down about 4 or 5, but you end up in the ground being easy prey for the zombies. A zombie grabs your foot and bites it; however, you don’t feel it, except for the part that you can’t stand up. You loosen yourself from the zombie and dive a bit further, just to get out of the zombie mob.
Zombies from the house start leaving in order to chase you, and you begin to run for the last remain of life you’ve still got. You notice an alarming number of zombies heading towards Alma’s. The door is clear now, all zombies are behind you. In the last sprint you’re able to make, you rush at the door and close it, and before the zombie mob reaches you, you grab a nearby pipe and block the door. Now it’s the end, and you’ve got nowhere to run and the zombies surround you. You pray that it will be not long and painful.
By the time Rodrigo finishes the remaining zombies in the house, he hears your screams, as you’re being torn apart by the zombies outside of the house. He walks to the door as fast as he cans, but his leg impedes him to do so in a quick way. He yells your name and tries to open the door, but nobody answers back. A voice sounds from the stairs; it’s Alma trying to find out what just happened. Rodrigo looks at her with a sad face and gives the bad news. She bursts in a sad crying, but at the moment, there is nothing both Rodrigo and Alma can do.
They’re safe momentarily. When Alma is able to recover herself, both Rodrigo and Alma discuss about what they must do. The house isn’t safe anymore. There is little supplies inside as the supplies that were coming were dropped outside. The house is surrounded by zombies, and they don’t seem to want to go away. Rodrigo asks Alma if she has a car. She nods.
Their best bet at the moment is the military base that Rodrigo and you were contemplating to go. Rodrigo tells her if she agrees, but she’s so shocked that all she does is nod with the face. They waste no time in getting into the car. As soon as the door opens, zombies rush to flood the garage. Fortunately, the car is able to roll over the pack and manages to leave the house.
They decide that it would be best if the city core was avoided, so they drive around the city. Alma looks too shocked to do anything, but Rodrigo notices that there are lots of corpses lying around. They seem like they’ve been slaughtered. Like if they became living dead and were shot afterwards. He pulls the car to the edge of the road just to check that out.
In fact, the corpses are full of bullets. He investigates a little bit just to see if there are any human casualties around. None. They seem to have been literally slaughtered. He returns to the car to tell Alma. She’s gone. Oh my god. Rodrigo panics and starts screaming Alma’s name, but there is no answer. It’s already late, it’s getting dark. He jumps into the car and looks the nearby zone searching for Alma, but he’s unsuccessful. He feels too tired now, he’ll continue to look for Alma tomorrow morning, and needs a place to rest. While he drives he finds a small bar that looks easy to fortify. He closes his eyes for a little bit and falls asleep inside the car.
He’s abruptly awakened by a gun in the head. Two big men dressed in black suit ask him to leave the car. When Rodrigo leaves the car, there seems to be 2 black Hummer trucks behind his car. Before he can do anything else, he’s injected with a needle, and he falls unconscious.
Weeks later he awakes in a hospital. A nurse is standing by his side. The nurse leaves the room. Rodrigo notices that two suited men are standing at the door, like guarding it. A doctor then enters the room. She checks Rodrigo, and carefully whispers him:
-“We’re witness to a terrible crime committed by the government, when you get better, we’ll need to escape, because those guards are the door are here to take you prisoner when you recover yourself, because the government wants nobody to spread what happened in Aguascalientes. I became member of a rogue group trying to unfold the truth and we need you to help us. I have to leave before they get suspicious. I know you have lots of questions. You’ll be answered when you’re ready. Goodbye.”-
The doctor leaves the room. Soon, Rodrigo notices the doctor looks strangely known to him. Of course, it’s Alma. Now, Rodrigo will have to wait until his health recovers. Who knows what happened back there. Rodrigo hopes that he’ll recover soon enough and successfully leaves the hospital. He has lots of questions. Maybe he will be able to avenge your death one day.
