At the time I'm writing this I have been awake for almost exactly 30 hours, ive done 18 many times and occastionaly 24 but 30 is a personal high. I don't know how I feel right now except that my mind is in a highly altered state. It's comparable to being on drugs though not as severe i don't think. anyways... cheers to 30

I advise that you don't drink or eat too much, or you'll get sick. Atleast, when I stay up for 24+ hours, its like my body shuts down, and so when I drink or eat anything I just throw it up in an hour or two.

Despite what .kaz said, keep yourself hydrated. And go to sleep unless you have something better to do. Trying to do something for 50 hours straight is like trying to micro your 12 m&ms for the whole game and completely ignoring macro.

The times I had to stay up around 30 hours in college I remember being pretty fun, actually. Right around then some sort of second wind kicks in, you stop feeling tired, and everything is funny as hell. It is pretty similar to what I imagine a drug high would be like, though I don't have any experience there to compare to.

Like a drug high though, you're going to come crashing down hard and fast pretty soon Like others have said, get in bed as soon as possible. The longest I ever had to stay up was 38 hours, and when walking down the hall to my room after that I realized I wasn't walking in a straight line :O It's really funny to talk about that now but it was pretty scary at the time.

My experiences with sleep deprivation:

Sometimes, at about 30 hours, I see a bunch of white streaks swimming around my peripheral vision. They look solid, and it lasts about a dozen seconds.

At about 40-50 hours, I just don't care any more. I don't care about the game I'm playing, I don't care about how tired I am, I don't care about whether I sleep or keep playing.

The one time I stayed up 70 hours (ok, I cheated with 30 minute sleep), I ingested about 8 liters of coke and went to the restroom maybe 20 times. It didn't feel much different from 40-50 hours, except that my eyes started hurting when the sun rose.

I've pushed myself past 30 a few times. The worst time however, is when my vision got really distorted. I couldn't see or focus right, it was pretty scary at the time. My friend laughed at me because I was like "I'm going to go to sleep, and hope the problem fixes it's self." It did thankfully.

Anyways, the last time I stayed up that late, I was only getting about 2-3 hours of sleep every day for about 5 days. I was barely eating or drinking as well. Then I randomly pulled my left pectoral muscle and it triggered an anxiety attack because I swore I was having a heart attack because of the immense pain. I had to call an ambulance. It so wasn't worth it.

I've done 72 once before, never again.

I stay up 18-24 on an almost daily basis, for various reasons. In my experiences, me and BottleAbuser have had very similar experiences, except for the streaks. I don't experience any vision impediments or hallucinations at any of the hours. 24-?? are generally the "everything is funny and fun" time for me, and I tend to feel like I'm thinking more clearly than ever. Thoughts come faster and imagination works much more vividly. At the very least, it does seem to make me have a quicker tongue and be more social. Whether that's just me loosening up or what, I don't know.

Two days and on always makes me feel burned out. That's zombietime. Nothing really matters and sleep sounds acceptable, but I still have to force myself to lie down.

Regardless of when you go to bed now, you're going to feel crappy when you get up most likely. Expect random body aches and grogginess.
Think. :)

I find that after 24 hours, or the next day time which ever comes first I lose any sleepyness and can again go easily until the next night time. After that time stuff starts to become rather bright and distorted but it's neat and fun.

I've done 48+ hours before

to top it off though, the last 6 hours of those 48+ hours (i dunno how long it was for sure) were spent drinking and smoking, it never even really phased me.

I once did 72 on a LAN party. After that my parents picked me up for dinner. I fell asleep in the restaurant while eating my pizza. Everyone was laughing at me but I just couldn't possibly stay awake anymore.

The whole thing actually worked quiet well although thinking about it it was kind of scary. Included was an 18 hour nonstop cstrike session. I didn't even get up once.

Today I can barely manage to stay awake for 20 hours.

Eh, I had energy drinks, coffee, lots of carbs for the long-term energy, lots of soda, lots of food. Kept myself stimulated with various activities for first 40 hours (party, then work tutoring, then rock concert) but once me and my friends started the sleepover after the concert, 30 hours into it, I just left for home and passed out with my face against the cold window in a futile attempt to do my homework.

35 is my record, and i really did feel like killing myself towards the end. my eyes were feeling not so great, staying awake was a pain (especially since i had to, was hopping buses). no fun really :\

i would probably do it again. 35 hours was my first time staying awake more than 24 hours too.

kefalives, that is... depressing. "no fun really" plus "i would probably do it again" implies your life is boring?

During my Lineage 2 days, I found that 8 hours uptime, 2 hours sleep time to be the best ratio that's sustainable over a month.

Unfortunately, most of us have school/work/social matters that would conflict with that.

Back in the day we used to have minilans (3 to 6 people) on a regular basis. We normaly stayed up 3 days in a row just gaming and drinking. That was when we were young and felt the juice.

I remember this one minilan we tought we still had it. But oh no. Deep into the second night one of us stood up and left to go to sleep. Of course we mocked him "buuhuu! pussy! chick!". Only two of us left we decided to play natural-selection over the internet.

Normaly there is much laughter and chat but over time it got really quiet. We played tough. Me and my buddy were running trough this levels as skuls ready to sneaky assault some marines. And while i was running trough this dark hallways i noticed my buddy is gone. So i wen't back looking for him and i saw his skulk running against a wall. I was like "huh?". Then i stood up and looked over the other side and saw his head lying on his keyboard sleeping. When he woke up he just continued to play like nothing happened. Only hours later i couldn't keep up and i felt it's my turn to sleep. He of course mocked me for my weakness...

Other lan story. One time we were at this public lan with hundreds of people. Easy going time we had. We of course did the same thing we did at home. Beer as much as we can lift and playing as much as we can. When we decided to go to sleep, we wandered around in these halls and seperated. Everyone found his place. When i woke up i looked for my buddy and i found him lying on a bench right next to a tennis field. Two people were playing right next to him and he looked so fucked up they didn't even wan't to wake him.

I personaly can't sleep as soon as the sun is up.

I've done 30 + hours many times playing FIFA with my friends. The last day of every semester we have a sleepover. We usually wake up at 6:00. When we're done with exams, we just go hang out and get to my place around 8:00. And play FIFA until out fingers are ready to fall off. I've been doing that since FIFA 2000. I was about 12 then. I have no problem staying 30+ while gaming. Its studying I can't do, lol.

Wow 12+ hours of sleep per day. That's just wasting it. I run normally on 5-7 , over 8 is too much for me.

I'll really sleep- when I'm dead. Time, to me, is a luxury.

Sadly there is barely a way to check this D;

I would do it but I plan on getting high and drunk, and those generally dictate getting sleepy and passing out.

Pfffft, 30 is nothing. I've done 36 numerous times. Basically, whenever there's an assignment/project due, i'd have to pull one of those.

It was my first dreamhack, i woke up around 7 the day before and was awake until the last hours of it.
I think it was like 60-80+ hours of no sleep. Taking into consideration i was like 14 year old or something and was a complete idiot.

At lan i peak 30 hours but when i have school it's around 6-8 hours. I hate sleeping so much, it seriously ruins your day.

I've done 48 hours many times, it definitely affects your mind. For me theres usually a small period where I feel very sleepy, but if I beat that, I can go without sleep for several more hours, but I feel my brain is working at 50%. Theres a slightly unreal feel to everything when you havent slept in 48 hours.

That's so true for me too I have like 10 hour good deep and undisturbed sleep yet wake up feeling tired still. If I get in 12 hours I feel normal (but not like really refreshed and bright), and needless to say I don't get in 12 hours very often.

I hear that if you don't sleep for long enough, you black out. Someone should give that a try.

That happened to me. I was working on my homework, somewhere around the 71st or 72nd hour, and my next memory is being woken up 3 hours later with my face against the window and my work in front of me with illegible scribbles written all over it. My face was numb for like an hour and the muscles were sore all day. I literally "blacked out" - I was doing one thing, and then just a blank slate in my memory until I was stirred awake.
Peace~

Wow dudes thats a lot of sleep per day. If I do that much I actually feel groggy and lazy and I dont have a good day. I've realized for me 7-8 hours/day and a somewhat regular sleep cycle work best. For me, alarm clocks work well too - once I'm awake, I try to leave my bed somewhat fast, instead of staying in it in a half-asleep state for another couple of hours (I know a lot of people do that).

You must have been that kid that always passes out first at sleepovers and parties and then gets his face written on and humiliating shit done to you. Lol I love those kids.

Fuuuuuuuuck I love sleeping.

I've been up 36 hours once, but the only thing that kept me up was that I constantly kept myself busy with stuff.

There are only few situations these days where i'd consider an "all-nighter" and that is:

- I haven't studied for a test/exam which is about to happend the next day
- I've been on holidays for so long that i've fucked up my sleeping pattern so bad and I need to get it back by staying awake until I'm able to fall asleep on a decent hour
Winners never quit, quitters never win.

I've done over 24 a few times, record is probably about 26 or something. usually my sleep pattern is really messed up in the holidays and when I have to go back to school/work I hardly ever sleep much/at all the night before. without sleep, I'm an apathetic asshole, I say what's on my mind and generally don't care at all whats happening around me. I made my boss hate my guts in a new job because of sleep deprivation, I was overly sarcastic to her (bad idea in a new job) and I paid for it :p
