I saw several people bringing up Warhammer 40,000 in several discussions. So I'm assuming a lot of people here know the Universe and have played the tabletop game alot, and since most Blizzard employees and former (Bill roper) were dedicated players I don't expect otherwise. What army to you collect or have and why did you choose that army?
I don't like the outrageous price of the models, but I have played with other armies and have read the storylines. I do find Dark eldar the most difficult race to employ, and the most strategic thinking oriented, their so god damn hard to use. I am kinda confused about the lore, like for instance, it never explains the origins of the Tyranids or where they exactly came from and how they came to be. Then there are the 4 Chaos gods, it says Slaneesh was born from the psyonic thoughts of the Eldar, and basically is a manifestation of their psychic thoughts and was born and slaughtered all the Eldar. So how exactly were the other 3 chaos gods born? Khorne, Tzeentch, and Nurgle? The codex never explains their origins, also can a Tyranid infest a Daemon? How come Tyranids can't go into the eye of terror and why aren't they really a threat to Chaos space marines?
In all of the stories its always space marines vs Tyranids or Imperial guard vs Tyranids, Eldar vs Tyranids but never like Necrons vs Tyranids or Chaos vs Tyranids.

You can google for WH40K lore, it explains pretty much everything. For instance, the 3 chaos gods were spawned from the emotional medium of the human race. The shit about tyranids is somehow related to them not having a conventional warp presence.
But seriously, it's all open-source info and it's all easily found in the web by just googling.

I am a dedicated WH 40'000 player and I've played the game for about 8 years now. I collect Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Eldar, Orks, Tau and Tyranids. Like almost every WH 40K beginner, I started with Space Marines, since I was told to do so by GW-Staff (I was 12 years old back then, don't blame me ) I then proceeded to collect the other races, beginning with Chaos Space Marines, Orks, Eldar, Tau and last Tyranids.
You are quite right, the Dark Eldar are not as easy to play as the other armies are, but if you know how to use them properly, they are insanely powerful. Same goes for the Eldar, but they allow more mistakes and are just as powerful.
As for your story-questions:
The origin of the Tyranids is unknown. They're believed to have come from a entirely different galaxy, up to know unknown to mankind.
Like Slaanesh, the other 3 chaos gods were created through emotions of the different races, that are populating the WH 40K universe. A Tyranid actually can't infest a daemon, as daemons are consisting of warp-energies, rather than flesh. Tyranids, like most other races in the WH 40K universe, can't go to the eye of terror because it's impossible to navigate and because of the deamons, that inhabit the eye of terror. Further more, the Tyranids would probably suffer from disorganisation, since they're psionically controling their lesser creatures. This psionic activity might be hindered by the chaotic energies of the eye of terror.
Hope I could help you out a bit.

So basically Khorne was born off the Orks. and how is tzeentch an emotion? I always found tzeentch to be a little ambigious and Nurgle too, as they don't exactly represent emotions but characteristics.

score, a warhammer post, i dont play the tabletop but i love the books, and not just 40k but the ordinary warhammer too, am i allowed here ?

No, Khorne was born through feelings and actions of anger and hatred of any kind of being, not just Orks. Tzeentch represents furtiveness and treachery, while Nurgle rather represents agony and disease.

I collect 2 armies. One is obvious. The other is Imperial Guard. I got around 3200 points with Tyranids + a biotitan and 2000 Imperial Guard army.
So when I first got introduced to 40k and saw all the different races I didn't even have to think twice before picking Tyranids. When I first saw them I thought about Alien ,my favourite sci-fi movie, and ,obviously, Zerg my favourite race in SC. Basically couldn't resist having my own Zerg brood in person in front of me coloured how I choose.

I like Chaos space marines, they have that Demonic corrupted look. Imagine how a battle between Zergs and Demons would look like.
Oh and how are Necrons? What are their advantages and weaknesses and what race do Necron players find the most difficult?

i collect the tau, which are some sort of conglomeration between protoss mobility and terran firepower. Yay. I think that for a Tau to consistantly win, they need to be completely mobile, i.e. mechanized.
as for your lore, i have no idea, but i would presume the warhammer fantasy may have answers as well.
