Western countries also invented "casual fridays" to relieve stress by augmenting the dress code in corporate settings. Does that mean it's blaspheme to wear anything other than a suit and tie (male) or a pants-suit (female) if you work at a corporation? No, of course not. Even priests occasionally wear something other than official clerical garb. Its just clothing, afterall. And the name of the day isn't even close to being related to the occult. Halloween is to Catholic Saints as Christmas Eve is to Jesus Christ. As far as Halloween being a Catholic usurpation of a pagan holiday, so what? Pagan doesn't = satanist, its just a general term for any non-Judeo/Christian religious sect. So, some non-Christians were being converted and wanted to keep their holidays. Big whoop. Many Christian practices can be traced to Pagan roots. The Christmas tree, for example. Mistletoe. Gift giving at Christmas, and even Christmas itself. The importance of the Virgin Mary, at least in her role in Catholicism, is borrowed from Pagans that worshiped feminine gods. Even Easter has pagan roots. Check this link out. If you want to abandon Halloween because of the way people celebrate it, okay, that's fine. More power to you. But meditate on the word "hypocrisy" for a while before you start condemning Halloween based on it's origins. 'Cause if pagan origins bother you, you're gonna need to start ignoring a slew of Christian holidays and their traditional customs. Please note that this response to your blog is meant to EDUCATE you on the truth about our favorite holidays. Irony is fun.

I don't think anyone here is denying halloween's pagan roots:O ( pagan =/= satanic ) But if the origin of something would keep you from celebrating the secular holiday it has become then your claim seems odd;p Also, as pointed out above, many Christian holidays have pagan roots;(
