EDIT: rayn clarified that he was actually mad with me about another game so I made a mistake with my judgement. I don't remember what happened that game (because it was 6 years ago and I don't have a record of it) but I'll assume that rayn is telling the truth here. I'm sorry rayn <3 I still love you, we had some fun games.
EDIT2 (Context of this blog): It's very difficult to get a game of Diplomacy in TL (it only comes once every few months or something) and when rayn joins, I can't play with my other friends because I'm not an asshole to join if he doesn't want to play with me and make him leave.
Also it's not fun to have someone continuously saying shit to me after 6 years when I'm fine with everyone else although we had lied to each other (as part of the game).
There's one party in town once in a blue moon and when I try to join it, I see rayn scowling at me, so I leave. This time, I got mad enough to write this blog and vent because it's been 6 fucking years.
(Since the TL Diplomacy community is so small, I tried to make this readable and hopefully fun for everyone)

More than 6 years ago, I was France, rayn was England and Xatalos was Germany. I had to choose one of them to trust. Rayn was giving me orders and I agreed to not go to the English Channel. After talking to Xatalos, I realised that Xatalos was a much nicer guy and I could trust him more. Rayn seemed like he was out to manipulate me as it was my first game and I'm supposed to be the noob. He kept flip flopping. I couldn't trust Rayn.
So I moved to the English Channel and Xatalos moved towards England too, while Rayn went all out vs Russia. He was screwed.
Rayn was trying hard to convince me to backstab Xatalos (Germany) because I wouldn't be able to solo win otherwise. I said no because I couldn't trust Rayn. His reputation was so bad and his arguments sucked. It was only turn 2 and he already wants me to backstab my only ally.
Rayn said something like "fuck you guys" in public chat and proceeded to rage quit on turn 2 or something. Usually I'd feel bad but I had a good laugh, because of the way he had treated me.
That's how Rayn labelled me as the guy who "didn't play to win": I didn't want to backstab the only guy I could trust. I think I ended up having a two way shared victory with Xatalos that game.
There are other situations where I was supposed to ally with Rayn (which was the supposed "optimal move" according to Grandmaster Rayn) and I rejected them because he was also trying to manipulate me all game and I would rather trust someone else.
People who have played with me and got to the two way or 3 way shared victory with me know how much effort I put into winning the game. Even the people whom I was playing against know this. This includes people like Hapahauli, Alakaslam, rsoultin, mderg, Dirkzor, Xatalos and DarthPunk (and some other people who I've forgotten, I'm sorry. It's been a long time). I respect these guys.
To me, my proudest achievement was when I was Austria and I was down to 1 or 2 bases in turn 3 or something and everyone thought I was dead.
Turkey and Russia were allied and they were about to eat me up. Germany was allies with Russia because of a friendship outside of the game. There was no one who cared about helping me. Understandably so. I was too weak and had no allies.
Somehow, I managed to come back from the dead and get to a shared victory. I recall it being a 4-way shared victory with DarthPunk (Russia, controlled by me) sharing the victory.
I did it by convincing DarthPunk (Russia) to let me control his account. Hence I controlled all of Russia's units. I have a lot of respect for DarthPunk btw. I did not manipulate him.
How was that possible? I did it after DarthPunk got so mad after his ally mderg (Turkey) backstabbed him (DarthPunk). DarthPunk wanted to leave the game and he didn't want to play anymore. So I asked him for permission to take control of his units since he was going to leave. DarthPunk's changed his password to "fuckmderg", when he gave me his account.
Rayn, don't ever tell me that someone who managed to get DarthPunk to let me control his account does not play to win.
I just didn't trust you because you were sus as hell, you were manipulative and most of all, you didn't show me (le noob) respect like everyone else did.
You accused me of not playing to win, just to compensate for the fact that you sucked at manipulating me.
It was been six fucking years. Please stop it. We are old now and I just want to be friends with everyone. The TL Diplomacy community is already small enough as it is.

1) Did i or did i not tell you that in case you do not break the alliance, player X is going to 100% win the game solo (that includes also YOU, not only me, losing)? 2) Did i or did i not present the moves for that player, that they are going to take, to achieve that, unless you're breaking the alliance with them? 3) Did the game, or did it not, end in the exact way i presented it to you?
Now if you answered "no" into any of these questions, then you are just a straight out more liar than you already are. Because that's exactly what happened. It's one thing to be incompetent enough to not realize the outcome of an action in a game, but it's a whole other thing to blame the person who told you exactly what's going to happen after you take said action.

Anytime you're in a game I can't join it, because you'd threaten to leave. You might not be forbidding me directly but I'm definitely facing obstacles when you'd start threatening to leave after I just said hi to you.
I thought you were angry with me about a different game where I had a 2-way or 3-way victory with Xatalos and we ganked you. In that game I was referring to, Xatalos was Germany and not Russia.
I don't remember what had happened in the game above where Xatalos was Russia. I don't even see my name on there but maybe it's because I had surrendered. Since I cannot access my game history anymore, I will have to take you for your word and trust that you're telling the truth.

The scenario raised by rayn seemed possible: Me not listening to rayn is completely within my character. I didn't trust him and I remembered trusting Xatalos. Since Xatalos won here, it's possible that Xatalos screwed me over because he's a boss that way.
I had tried to verify things on my side before writing this post but I've lost the game history. I imagine that since rayn still has the evidence, he had verified it before coming back at me.

Well, it is also extremely successful and is still performed over a century later. But, he derived little to no pleasure from it himself, and high art minded academics who are music connoisseurs tend to look down upon it.
Such high art, though being a mutual masturbation, is so in a way that isn't necessarily taboo or degrading. If that can make sense. But since it is partnered in a different way than popular things are (a more traditional giving sex, to keep the erotic analogy) you can immediately tell the difference. To seek outside influence runs a severe risk of tainting that in oneself.
However if you want the curse of fame, you need to discover the main stream of collective thought at the source and tap into it early. Part of how one does this is to look back and to look around. But you have to look around at what gives pleasure to those outside, not solely to those inside. Mainstream stuff is really kind of simple, but in a "new" way.
Tl;dr: I thought you wanted to get famous and monetize your work but it seems you want to pursue the art for arts sake which does lead to greatness but is often 1. Unrecognized by most and 2. Usually best done without outside influences in order to preserve originality, to the extent of my knowledge. So this is a long drawn out apology as I am only useful as a "normie" guinea pig.
