If I'm being honest, I haven't really been able to enjoy video games as much as I used to. I kind of felt like this for a while now, but I didn't really realize how I was feeling until about a month ago. I've been playing games still, but I haven't been getting that same feeling of enjoyment that I used to. I don't think it's me necessarily growing out of it, but I just don't feel as motivated to play them anymore. Even though I've mentioned having some mental health issues on here, I don't feel depressed and I have no plans to harm myself, so I highly doubt that has anything to do with it.
I was talking about how I was feeling with a friend of mine, and he mentioned something called the "Sausage Principle". If you don't know what that is, it's basically a theory that says "if you love something, don't find out how it's made". This theory, of course, comes from videos of how people make sausages and hot dogs. In fact, I remember family members telling me that they couldn't enjoy sausage the same way anymore after seeing these kinds of videos.
When my friend told me about this theory, I felt like that could potentially be the reason why I haven't been able to enjoy gaming. It made me think about the Activision-Blizzard lawsuit, and kind of confirmed my belief that the video game industry is pretty messed up in a lot of ways. Granted, I do believe that there are many studios who don't have harassment or frat-boy cultures and just want to make some good video games, but I also believe that there are enough studios who have done that kind of stuff for it to be an issue. I think studios like Activision-Blizzard should be held accountable, although it's probably easier said than done, because people will likely eat their games up like nothing ever happened. And that honestly sucks.
I feel like I've gotten to a point where I'm stuck. I'd like to find a new game to put time into, and as of right now, I'm considering Guilty Gear: Strive. Does anyone have any games that came out recently you would recommend?

I just finished playing Elex and it kept me entertained for 60 some hours. But also nothing wrong with taking a break too. I've gone through periods in the past where I stopped gaming, sometimes for months or years. Makes it more fun and exciting when you come back.

The Blizzard thing is very gross. I was recently considering buying the Nova campaign, but I don't want my money going that direction anymore.
As for recommendations: Hades. I adore it, and it's been properly fun. It's also visibly well made and written, with a lot of charm. The gameplay is smooth, fast, never wastes your time and has a ridiculous skill ceiling.
The Ori games are also very fun, although I finished both reasonably quickly (not without many, many deaths however).

I liked everything about Hades except for the gameplay. It felt limited and repetitive. Maybe I just didn't play it long enough though.

In the end game, + Show Spoiler +, the game opens up a lot. Lots of different ways to use the weapons, and enemies get stronger and more varied in a lotta ways. That said the gameplay is a lot about perfecting doing the same things. I enjoy that, but I can definitely see that your mileage may vary.

It's free 2 play and you don't to invest any money if you don't want to. Thread on Tl.net: https://tl.net/forum/games/563826-genshin-impact-coop-rpg I mostly play fighting games, along with a tiny bit of splitgate, but I'd like to get into other genres. I considered genshin at one point, but I might actually get into it. How is it?

For me personally, Game of the year 2020. Miles ahead of something like Cyberpunk 2077
Lots of exploring the world, solving riddles and a incredible good combat system with elemental combinations Give it a try. It's free, after all
