EPTWhen we are kids, learning comes so naturally and easily. It's the most common thing in a childs life, to learn something. New experiences, new friendships, new challenges. All providing new skills for life. As we progress we become more and more able to do more for ourselves and others.
Such is the way of our life. However, as we get older we also learn less and less, part of it can be explained by us becoming more knowledgeable, thus not needing to learn new things, though I'd argue a lot of it has to be with our desire to learn less. Actively, or passively I cannot say for sure. It would be subjective to suggest anything else. If you pay attention to what many adults too, it does give some perspective, people educate themselves to become teachers,taxi drivers,security guards,plumber etc. Then they stay in that profession for the rest of their whole life. Never learning anything else or picking up another trade. This, was (is) pretty common all over the world. There is nothing wrong about this, though. In this blog, I want to remind you all about the importance of learning.
I work in the tech industry. A field where knowledge and staying relevant is key to not only success, but also to keep yourself afloat. I've seen first hand how important knowledge is for personal development and how much it helps others to be knowledgeable of something important. Every day I have a new idea or some work I put in that helps me move forward in life, one way or the other. Sometimes I fail at what I want to do, but then I just rewind what I've been doing and try again, and again, and again. Until it works, I'm not done.
In order to properly win you have to lose a few times, otherwise it wasn't a true victory. You can fail as many times as you want, as long as the end result is better than where you started, you are moving forward!
The biggest threat to mankind, is lack of knowledge, lack of knowledge of consequences, lack of solutions. The list goes on and on.
That's why we should be grateful for all the organisations and private citizens (like Bill Gates) who contribute to educate and help out people in need.
I want you to take a moment to think of that one person in your life that you know, who is highly knowledgeable and is out there doing something important. Now, take a step back and think of that other person who is out there doing nothing for neither h**self nor others. Tell me, who do you respect the most?
I don't mean this to bash on people who don't know anything, but I strongly believe everybody can do something for themselves and others. Look at our world, how far we've come in the last 100 years. Was this just a coincidence? Or is this the effect of hard work and improvements through thinking and rationalizing? The answer should be obvious, unless I missed something.
Whoever you are and whatever you do, you can do even better and don't forget. Always be improving for yourself sake and others.
Your only limitation is what you tell yourself.
So go get it.
