Going into today's games, I put in 6 or 7 minutes of inject training in my hands on Existor's LOTV Queen Inject Tester v1.1. I'm not used to location hotkeys and have small hands, so I stuck with my original idea of using backspace (rebound to `) injects like I used to. I bind queens all on one hotkey (5 typically, hatcheries on 4), then cycle through bases with ` and let the AI in the game do the work. I don't go fast enough to cause queens to wander around, so I haven't had problems with that yet.
On to the games!
Game 1, ZvZ: Day9 said one of the smartest things several years ago on one of his old Day9 Dailies, something along the lines of: "If you know you're so far ahead of a guy, just go fucking kill him." That's what this game was, on top of me having horrific macro. I absolutely goofed up my build and the early game, only to scout him and see that he had exactly nothing. He sent a few early zerglings to my base which I held off with basic drone micro. From there, it was a quick recovery and then rallying lings onto his side of the map and going from there. He still had nothing. I was dumbfounded, but sometimes you just get those wins. Inject note: I forgot to hotkey one of queens early on, but after I fixed that the injects went smoothly.
Game 2, ZvZ: I have no idea what this game was. I saw early aggression with an overlord that I held off, figured he was going spire tech, guess that correctly, then suddenly he has cracklings? My macro seemed to be fine for the most part given the circumstances, but this was certainly one of the weirder games that I remember playing.
Game 3, ZvZ: Opponent dropped as soon as we loaded in and lost 70 MMR for it. However the wins come!
Game 4, ZvP: Macro seemed to be on point again! I really like playing Acolyte because it gives me a free natural. Long story short for this game: he tried stargate tech, I had enough economy to defend and transition, and rolled over him as he tried to GG push me with air units. Getting the injects down perfectly well is taking some time, but that's normal for changing up muscle memory. I don't expect it to feel "natural" for a couple of weeks.
Game 5, ZvT: This was a macro win. I held off his first attack and then immediately went to counterattack, and it was all downhill from there.
4-1 today! Looking forward to building on this tomorrow!
