So my last blog I was asking for Beta Readers (which ended up being too soon I discovered, guess it's a good thing everyone flaked?). One of the Beta Readers gave me some really solid advice though as he read a couple chapters and I realized he was right that I was rushing to much to try and finish the book, when I still had a lot of editing to do.
So I have been editing my current book over and over and over and over... Well you get the idea . After my last round of edits a couple of weeks ago I was realizing I was getting to the point where I actually need feedback. I have been super motivated the past 2 weeks and have probably spent on average 2-3 hours a day editing. For each full edit, I would make a new copy and save it so I can look at older versions. It's crazy how much I have changed, but now I know why people say to edit and edit some more and do it many times.
I don't know why, but it feels so good to get this part of the book done. Editing has been a major pain in my ass (especially with my horrible grammar).
Now that this is done I have reached out to some professional beta readers that I am going to pay for. Judging from previous experiences I would rather pay the money and know it'll get done rather then send it to people and never hear back. Then I am going to pay an editor to go through the book for grammar (after fixing any plot holes and seeing their suggestions).
If anyone knows any good editors feel free to reach out to me or give me a contact. I have emailed a couple of companies that could do my price range, but haven't heard back yet so still looking there.
For anyone curious, my main goal is to just get this book self published (don't care about being published and not doing this for the money), get a physical copy in my hands and then start the grind for book 2. I have learned so much in just this process that I am super hyped to start on something new after 2 years.
Thanks for reading and keep rocking it everybody!
