Proleague Shopping List

With the new round of SPL coming up let’s take the chance to look at possible roster changes that would be ideal for all the teams in SPL.

The Options
So who is available for this round of SPL?

Byun is the most obvious player to join one of the teams competing in SPL, with an impressive online record, winning Leifing Cups and Douyu cups left right and centre.

SpeeD has recently left KT Rolster meaning this up and comer of recent times has a chance to join a team where he can get more playing time, and develop as a player to reach is potential. Let’s hope he gets the chance.

HerO is another player teamless at the moment, after his time in Team Liquid he has not found a team yet. The strong Protoss player would be a valuable asset to many potential teams should they choose to reach out to him.

StarDust mentioned in his recent TL interview that he wanted to come back to SC2 professionally, what better way to return than in a Proleague Team for round three. The aggressive style of StarDust would be interesting to see in SPL with the amount of preparation that goes into the games.

Now it’s time for the slightly more unlikely possibilities we can all hope for.

Scarlett has been practicing in Korea and after coming close to being the first foreigner to qualify for GSL/SSL is it possible she will return to Proleague? It surely would be something for foreigner fans to cheer for.

Jaedong, now this is a long shot. But Jaedong has been struggling of late with what to do with his future according to his twitter. Even if The Tyrant is a little out of form, his following alone should make him an attractive signing to many teams. Is it possible an offer from one of these teams could tempt him back?

Jin Air Greenwings
The previous round champions have a very strong roster, with the Maru and sOs leading the charge. As well as players like Cure, Rogue and Trap all capable players. They have an incredibly balanced roster and any additions to their roster would have to be top talent. I think it’s unlikely they will add any players. Although if they do I would imagine it would be Byun the former teammate of Maru.

SKT Telecom T1
SKT have an impressive roster with star players like Dark, INnoVation and Classic. The emergence of Impact in GSL and his usage in the Semi-finals its clear there are now six players fighting for the four slots on the line-up. Any additions to this roster like Jin Air would have to be top talent.

KT Rolster
KT Rolster's roster built around Zest, TY and Stats is as formidable as any in SPL, and with Losira and Leenock fighting for that fourth spot I don't see KT making any moves this round. Only really a top Zerg to complete the fourth slot would be a logical move.

CJ Entus
CJ Entus are one of the most interesting teams for this post, recently signing MC CJ have shown they are looking to improve on their roster. If only for the sake of herO's back. The ideal signing for them would be a Terran such as Byun. If they signed him they would be able to field HerO, Byul, MC and Byun. A very formidable line-up capable of improving their chances in round three.

Samsung Galaxy
Samsung are in a somewhat similar position as CJ, relying on a Protoss Star to get them wins. Dear is the obvious star of the team, and with more help maybe they could push for playoffs in round three. Another Potential location for Byun as none of the Terran's currently on the roster have had good results in Proleague. Also SpeeD would be a good addition to Samsung as he develops he could fill the gap in Samsung as their number one Terran. Perhaps requiring more developing than Byun, but still a very strong choice. Possibly even room for an additional Zerg, could this be where our long shots Scarlett or Jaedong find a home for the upcoming round?

MVP
MVP are currently relying on GuMiho and Ryung for their wins at the moment, trying to find other players capable of regularly winning for them is proving to be the challenge. I think HerO would be a great addition to MVP, offering them a top Protoss player capable of being a winner in Proleague. Another option could be StarDust as an alternative to HerO. Also their Zergs Pet and DeParture have been unsuccessful in Proleague and looking to add a new Zerg such as Scarlett or Jaedong would be amazing for MVP. Perhaps a more likely possibility would be TRUE playing as a mercenary for MVP. Seeing as PSISTORM and MVP have some kind of relationship with NoRegret living and practicing in MVP team house. However, I do not know for sure that playing as a mercenary is possible in this format of Proleague.

Afreeca Freecs
Afreeca have a rounded roster, but what they lack is a true star player, I think it is safe to say that was the role Life was going to play, but for obvious reasons that is no longer possible. I think Afreeca could sign Byun or HerO as potential star players they can rely on while their roster finds its feet. Signing players like StarDust seems unlikely as they already have a lot of players at that level.

There is a lot to be excited about for the upcoming round of Proleague, we had some fun with some optimistic transfers as well as some more likely transfers. I hope you enjoyed, do let me know of what you would like to see change in the Proleague rosters.

Nice summary of the current affairs. Keep it up!

Imo the overall picture for SC2 in Korea is pretty sad. There's no new talent, only the same boys who jump teams

If I was a team manager, Stardust, TRUE and Hero are the only ones I'd consider signing. Oh and DRG (you forgot to mention him... or is he retired?). But not the others... Jaedong already made it very clear that the lifestyle he wants is no compatible with a PL team; Scarlett is too unstable to train or even play (plus I can't see her really working with the Korean training style); and I don't believe Byun when he says he likes Proleague now, I think he just wants the money.

SpeeD was let go for god knows what reason... I wish he didn't leave us. But I also think the only way for a rookie to develop is under one of the bigger teams, who have coaches and big star players to learn from, so I hope he lands on CJ -who need a Terran more than anything- even if that means we missed yet another opportunity to raise a good player instead of buying them.

I thought about drg but wasn't sure of his situation, maybe should of included him with Scarlett and Jaedong in the weird and wonderful option.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Apparently neither of them wants it because that fight just ain't happening. Losira never wins and Leenock almost never wins. Glorious. At this point I don't find it impossible that KT for the sake of having a 4th player who wins more than once in a blue moon attempts to hire ByuN. After all, KT's Proleague winning 2014 lineup was mostly carried by 2T/2P and the best Zerg on the team was Action.

I don't think StarDust has any intentions of playing in the Korean leagues though, and TRUE is just waiting for his visa to get done so he can move on to WCS, so actually joining a PL team seems out of the question, at most mercenary work. I also think DRG doesn't like playing in Proleague, and I have no idea in general about him right now. He might join a PL team and keep going or he might retire the moment he drops out of GSL.

I really hope we don't get Byun. But yeah I can't see Stardust or DRG joining a KeSPA team. DRG has already left twice to try get into foreigner land, but that isn't gonna happen now so I'm thinking retirement for him.

TRUE could possibly join a team as a short term merc I guess. Though I don't know if he's good enough for anyone to really want him just as a merc.

HerO i'd love to see join a weaker team and get lots of play time. Was hoping he might go CJ but chances of that must be pretty slim after the MC signing.
