Where's the new young blood? Is it because there's not as many newer players there playing sc2 hardcore to make up for the insane mechanics people got from bw?

The relatively small player pool play a role, but I think that the experience from bw play a bigger role. It is not only a matter of mechanics, it is also a matter on pro gaming practice experience, studio experience, and contact in the environment. Bw player also already had a fan base so team were more tempted to pick them over no-name, and of course when Kespa transition came their spot were already full on bw player so they were not interested to pick some new young sc2 player and hope that they became good one day. After that non Kespa team pretty much all died so there was less place for new player.

Counter question: Is there much money for young blood in BW? The old players have the chance to participate because they already made money in the past, they have streams and fans and everything. Maybe the fresh young talent is lacking the money to rise to the challenge. If you have to work a shitty job and go to school then maybe you dont have the time to practice enough.

to be at that level it takes what? 5-7 years from scratch. Sc2s barely been out that long even now. You'd need at least bw experience.

Did Maru, Parting, or Life play BW competitively? Or Taeja?

It might only feel that way because Kespa/ex-BW players represent a large % of the korean pro scene.

There were like what? 6 or so teams pre-kespa? And many of them were orignally BW players. And then when kespa switched over they brought over another 6-7 teams. The older teams lost funding so their players stopped playing/joined kespa.

So when you look at the scene and say 'all the top players are ex-BW' but thats cuz you're looking at a sample size that consists mainly of ex-BW players.
