Climate change is real, mankind is affecting it (I feel that should be obvious) but I feel in general it's way over-hyped by some. None of the destructive things being predicted are based in reality and are all based off theory and models which are always changing and being revised for later dates. I'm picking this bit to respond although many things have been said. I find it hard not to "over-hype" climate change. Most scientists agree that mankind affects climate change, and in the absence of a consensus regarding the projections about what that might mean in the future, the reaction is largely to preserve the status quo. The precautionary principle is thrown out the window, the attempts to reduce our effect on global warming are very shy. Plus I don't think that all "alarmists" are bad. I think it's not unfair to argue that there is a long term threat that grows the longer we wait to take it seriously. I have no issue believing that if we let this issue fester for too long, then it'll get exponentially more expensive to tackle those issues. | ||
