You know, it's kinda funny. I've been playing music (cello and piano) for a very long time, and have been performing. I never had problems doing presentations, or public speaking either.

But for some reason, I always had problems playing multiplayer games alone. I played some ~700 matches of League of Legends. I think in that time, I had maybe 5 solo queue games in total. I migrated to DotA II more recently because I was sick and tired of their servers, and played my first game of solo queue (it was a normal, since I only just started) earlier today. It was fun. I'll definitely be doing more of this.

It wasn't even an exclusive problem to DotA/LoL either. Even when I was huge on the StarCraft hype train, I almost never played 1v1. I might've logged some 200 matches of 2v2 if not more, but 1v1 was always draining on me. For whatever reason, I can actually play games on my own now, and it's been nice. I'll definitely be playing more DotA in the future, to hone my skills since my friends are all significantly better than I am.

Welcome! I know the feeling. I logged about 2300 games of sc2, with probably 1800 being 1v1. The anxiety while queued is horrendous. I still don't know how I pushed through it to this day. I don't have such a problem with dota because I feel like my failure to perform in a match doesn't necessarily mean an instant loss. I think that if you get yourself into that mindset, you can shrug off ladder anxiety fairly easily. I would venture to say that how I feel while playing dota is probably 1/10th of how I felt when I was at my prime in sc2. Anyway, glad to see even more people jumping on the dota train!

probably fun for now, but once you get better and start fighting for those precious mmr, the ladder anxiety will return

Hopefully, I'll be a bigger man by the point that happens.

Also, thanks for the welcomes! ^_^

Oh you are the guy that asked GD(Official offtopic discussion thread) about how do we learn dota.

Anyways there is no need to pressure yourself on playing solo queue if you don't want to. You are playing dota 2 for fun. If you are not enjoying it there's no point in doing so. Just play with a stack.

I don't have solo queue anxiety but honestly i find it more enjoyable to stack with people i know preferably. And i only play solo queue whenever i don't have someone to stack with or i want to practice a hero.

this is a quote

I used to play SC2 and for me it was a much more draining experience as well, in Dota it is easier to queue a match and just play, even for shits and giggles. Sure, it can get infuriating when you get stupid teammates and lose 200 mmr in a couple of days, but there are also those few glorious games where everything and everyone clicks together and you are super happy and satisfied even when you lose.

Anyway, good luck mate, and may the Dota gods always smile upon you

Many many people overcome the anxiety by blaming the teammates including me. Learn to blame your teammates, remember it is never be your fault.

I feel like I should get better at that.

"Our void is 20 cs at 40 minutes? Sorry guys, I should've carried harder" is something I tend to say.

I had it really bad with Starcraft, Dota 2 is less hardcore for me.
I think esports is pretty nice.

starcraft anxiety was the worst shit ever, dota is easy compared to that. at least in this game i can't go down my ramp at 2 mins and find a enemy hatchery under my tier 3 xD. also if i play cm mode i can ban protoss, yea this game's fun. but regarding the op, you shouldn't have ladder anxiety in dota. everyone's terrible in pubs and unlike in sc, one missclick isn't gonna cost u the game. the margin for error is infinitely larger.

Sc2 Ladder anxiety definitely played a big part in me dropping the game. At some point queueing just wasnt fun anymore and I didnt really know what else to do in the game. Missing a crucial FF and instantly loosing the game just isnt fun.

Dota is better, if I feel like it I can still blame others (in my mind only) or the draft instead of being honest and accepting that I didnt have enough impact. And I still have fun in most games that I loose.
