Though Group C arguably had the toughest line up, it’s Group D that feels impossible to call. The Russian Terran Machine Happy, the Aussie Zerg PiG, Naked Zerg Kane, and the Sleeping Giant in Norwegian Zerg TargA. Starting us off is Happy versus PiG in a prediction made of magic!
Happy, the first name to come to mind when arguing who gives Bunny the most competition for best EU Terran. It has been debated many times, whether Happy is 100% human due to his mechanical play, and overall consistency in game. Happy is 66.67% in his past 48 TvZ games, made it to the Ro8 last season, and only has to practise one match up. The odds are in his favor, but still has never faced his next opponent PiG.
Much like the difficulty of predicting MajOr’s performance against top Europeans, PiG falls to the same issue. Though currently riding a 61% win rate in the match up, the only globally known players he defeated were fellow Aussie iaguz, the fallen but not forgotten Kelazhur, and Axiom Heart. Even if the data doesn’t support PiG in this series, he does have a strong backing in the most important match up of the day ZvZ. At least he offered some breakfast to fellow opponent Kane before his match versus Targa.
Kane, the home town hero. As a fellow Canadian, nothing made me happier seeing Kane do his best to reap the EU scene under mYi. Kane’s greatest achievement being his victory in SHOUTcraft America back in 2013, and more recently second OSC Global All-Starts Tournament, losing to Snute who didn’t drap a map all tournament. Overall, his potential against Zerg is high, as long as that Zerg player is not Snute, who has a perfect record against him in official matches.
TargA, who is not Snute, is probably the closest foreigner Zerg to his skill level. Disappointingly TargA seems to have never had the opportunity to show his full potential on a global stage, usually being overshadowed by his countryman. With that all being said, toting over a 75% win rate in ZvZ and 72% in ZvT, TargA should have no issues being a major contender this season.
May the best ZvZer win…

Kane < TargA
TargA > Happy
