Hey TL!
Wow, it's been a while since I've posted here. I was a fervent member in the Broodwar days and when SC2 came out, I switched to dabble in poker for a while over at TL's sister site, Liquid Poker. Was a big fan of Bisu and SKT, watched them dismantle the reigning king Savior (before the scandal) in a dramatic 3-0 flourish. Those are the best memories from Broodwar.
I play a lot of League of Legends now, a humble D5 member on NA server, Ether176 hit me up if you'd like some humble opinions on the game, strats, where you can improve, etc. and currently cheering on Liquid's own team as well as Gravity and C9.
Anyway, I've been doing my undergrad thesis on the relationship between Video Games, Drugs, Alcohol, Gambling and would love your help to fill our a survey for me. It's anonymous and at the end, I'm raffling off 15 ten dollar RP cards for LoL. It will only take 10-15 minutes of your time, and it will help me out a bunch.
Thanks, and Cheers!
Also, if any mods feel that this is inappropriate, please let me know!

I find this survey biased.
"How many times have you stopped doing something important to play videogames?"
Videogames ARE important!
Answered all your questions, good luck with your thesis.

I'll post this feedback here instead of sending an email as I am assuming you will read these
On the second page when it asks the gambling questions, I have gambled a few times throughout the last year (poker with friends) but my answer was still Never for every single one of the questions. It would be nice if there was a separate option or something as based on my answers you can't tell if I haven't gambled or if I have and my answer is just Never.

i neglected something important to do this survey :p

Done. But i almost didn't because Bisu/SKT

Done! And GL on your thesis!

Done. GL!
Any chance of seeing a graph or some sort of analysis on your findings down the track?
Would be interesting!

There's some problems with your survey. A couple of typos, some questions where the range jumps up, some cases where it feels inconsistent that you are disagreeing with a statement and then the next one kind of asks a question in reverse.
You could make taking the survey faster to fill out if you put it in sections where the first answer tells you to ignore the rest of the section if the answer clearly invalidates everything else.
Another issue is kind of ignoring the reality that though a lot of people have all but stopped playing video games, video games still persist in their life either from esports, speedrun videos or lets play. I guess you want to see if there's a correlation between addiction to video games and addiction to other substances, but I'm not sure you'll really get the data you need from this.

Isn't that on purpose? It makes it very easy to detect when somebody just doesn't read the questions at all....
Also, I am so boring for this survey ...

It makes sense if you want to pre-test your survey for ambigious terms. In some cases a slight change in the tone of wording makes a huge difference, e.g. if you ask for something to be forbidden or not to be allowed. The meaning is the same, but more people will - regardless of subject - check the "no" option for forbidden. Other than that, it's a waste of time for the person you'd like to ask and therefore a really stupid thing to do. Keep it as short as possible and as long as needed. See your second sentence for explanation why not double check just for the sake of double checking.
There's tons of other details worth mentioning here, but w/e prolly just another psychology study forced on the poor guy.

Filled! I'd like to see the results sometime!

I thought I was a gambling addict but looking at those questions, I am way more reasonable than expected!

Alright it happened. One of your questions (I think about drinking) was a bit odd because I never drink, but it said when you do drink how many drinks do you have. I left it blank and it let me pass so I guess its okay.
After finishing your survey I find it hard to say what my relationship with video games is. Its not a full blown addiction, but there are elements to it that I realize are somewhat disturbing. Sometimes its actually very hard to cut down on game time when I should be doing other things. But when I really want to (when I have less time to complete my assignments) I just stop playing and get things done. Its not quite procrastination because I end up getting pretty high grades overall though

Hey all!
Thanks for filling out the survey! I really appreciate it! =D
I'm aware with a lot of the confusion about the wording of the questions. Problem is, I took every question from an established measure so I couldn't change any wording, just chose some of the more well-worded and relevant ones from an incredibly bland and confusing scale.
I'm sorry if I didn't foreword a warning that it may disrupt emotions from any of the questions. I'll post an abstract once I'm completed with the thesis, and again, thanks for all the support.
