Hmmmm… something’s not right here…
Clearly, something is different in this game than most games that I’m used to. I’d like to think that those of you reading this were smart enough to catch it in the title screen, but in case you didn’t… + Show Spoiler +
that background’s a real photograph!
Using my superior wit and intellectual prowess, I managed to press the ‘A’ key, which subsequently progressed me to the next screen.
What terror! My first obstacle! The black screen engulfed my window and forced me to make a life and death decision. It mocked my capabilities as I hesitated between choice 1 and choice 2. I wiped the sweat off my forehead to keep it from getting in my eyes.
“There’s no going back,” I said as I selected choice 2 and pressed ‘A’.
I was immediately thrown back to the title screen. The game was laughing at my incompetence. I wasn’t having any of it. After another 2 tries, I finally selected the right choice and made it through to the next screen, where I was asked to select a name for myself.
My grasp on ancient alien language is almost nonexistant, but I managed to spell out something that I do everyday and is an important part of my life. My last name quickly followed suit in a similar manner, albeit was even more important to me personally than my first name.
Luckily, my days of playing Runescape granted me the opportunity to appreciate the benefits of playing as a female character. Without hesitation, I made my choice. Very soon I would be swimming in free stuff given to me by virtue of being female alone!
Having chosen my path as a non-male character, I knew I would need extra strength and support to get through this. That's why I chose to get 3A and 3B ladders (for support!), and 99 strength level... or something.
Lastly, it asked me what grade I thought I should get in my economics class. I chose A of course.
Having now remembered my name, age, gender, and the name of my rival, I boarded the train and started thinking about my case. The corrupt mayor of town Shoryukenville had been missing for the past few days, and I was going to be the one to find him!
“Why you want find old mayor?” Officials asked me. “Nobody like him!” They tried to convince me to let it go. It maddened me to know that things weren’t taken seriously around here. I could only find comfort in the thought that they were nice enough to assign me a partner to help solve this mystery: Mr. Kitty.
As I sat down across from my partner, I noticed Mr. Kitty looked out the window attentively. He was obviously deep in thought. The city we were passing by held many mysteries. No doubt he wanted to solve each and every one.
I sighed, still feeling a little drained from my trip to the train station. He must have heard me though, for he turned his head and looked at me.
“Meow.” He smiled. “Meow meow meow, meow meow!”
I frowned. Mr. Kitty immediately got up and left. I stared out the window, watching the scenery pass until I noticed him walking back down the aisle with some milk and fish he raided from the kitchen.
That thief!
Though I didn’t approve of Mr. Kitty’s actions, he was my partner in this. He knew the area better than I, and I knew I would need his help to solve this case. Our train finally arrived in Shoryukenville, and I was ready to begin our investigation.
