There's been some times when a much better player at StarCraft wanted to play bet games with me, and I was like "Why would I ever do that?" Poker seems like the equivalent of that except for some reason people are like "hell yeah I wanna lose $500 playing a game with someone who outclasses me. That's what makes it exciting! And what if my 4pool/low pair bluff works!"

I saw on IveyLeague a very good coach suggested these books: DUCY by David Sklansky NLHE Theory And Practice by David Sklansky Professional NLHE Volume 1 by Matt Flynn Harrington On Hold'em by Dan Harrington Fooled By Randomness By Nicholas Taleb Millionaire Real Estate Investor by Gary Keller On October 31 2014 00:02 Liquid`Zephyr wrote: its a really hard time to get into poker these days so i hope you're ready to work nonstop for a long long time. good luck with it all and dont forget to post hh questions @ lp ^_^ You are absolutely right and I am well aware of this. I am not deluding myself into thinking I am a genius and will perform better than anybody else. I am just willing to bet all my life on this and I will definitely work non stop towards my goal.

Personally, I enjoy poker, but I think the opportunity cost and risks are high and maybe education would be a better way to earn 100k Whatever you decide, gl and hf !

No offense, but people who think education is the solid way to go to earn money need to be brought back to the real world. Nothing is better than anything else, all that matters is that you enjoy it and that you do it well.

I still vividly remember how you explained what "Limoncello" is on TakeTV and how often you were coaching Take and had to drink everytime he lost (or won?!, anyways, awesome drinking game). are you still working on your other project?

Poker is also basically free (not counting time spent) if you manage your bank-roll properly and get one of those online poker promotional offers for starting. But obviously the people you really want to play with to make money off are also people who are feeding money into the system because they have a problem, and you enable that problem by playing with them. You can say they have a problem with or without me, or think of it as natural selection / stupid tax, but I think it's worth giving thought to whether you really feel that way or you're dismissing it because it's convenient. I have a job that does contribute to the welfare of others that I do when I am not entertaining myself. The most you can say for full-time poker is that some poker players play on TV some of the time, and it's a fine thing to entertain others, but I don't know if that outweighs the social costs. For people who aren't playing on TV, they produce nothing, which is kinda parasitic. At best you can imagine you're taking money from rich people and distributing it elsewhere, which is pretty wishful thinking.

also I meant poker was more expensive for the recreational players who are feeding the professionals obviously, just like some average SC players are sinking a ton of time into the game to achieve virtually nothing besides entertaining themselves (same thing as poker for rec players)

I also recently got into poker again but I suck. I hope you'll continue to post occasionaly, I am extremely interested. A friend of mine makes about 1k a month and I am trying to get to a point where I make more than 0.3-0.5$ an hour (with no success).
